In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I taught Algebra 1 for four years at a small, rural high school in Iowa. Topics included: signed numbers, first- and second-degree equations, systems of equations, polynomials, Inequalities, Factoring, Graphing, and Graphing.
I taught Algebra 2 for two years at a small, fully accredited private high school in Iowa. Topics included: Algebra 1 review, Exponential equations, Radicals, Imaginary Numbers, Logarithms, Trigonometry, Quadratics, and Matrices. Also tutored for two years, working with three students total during that time.
