University of Iowa (Human Phys. Ex. Sci.)
I am a young student who completed her first year at Saint Louis University as a Health Sciences major and Psychology minor. I am transferring to University of Iowa as a Human Physiology Exercise Science Pre-Physical Therapy Major and Psychology minor. I love children and am more than willing to help them with the subjects that I am qualified for.
My main focus is to teach piano for beginners. I started lessons at the age of 4 and then quit in 4th grade. 4th-8th grade I was taught violin and did choir. I re-started piano and began teaching. I have taught one student for four years (10 years old now), one student for two years (7 years old now), and another student for one year (13 years old now). What I do is I kick-start/teach the basics of piano to students for the summer for a cheap price and then allow you the student to choose to continue with another teacher or not. My hourly rate is $25, but I can do half-hours for $12.50.
I am qualified to tutor other subjects such as pre-algebra and algebra. I have taken rigorous courses at my university and am confident I am able to help them with these subjects. I am also very patient and will never condescend a student. I am also younger and thus children tend to be less intimidated. For these, I am willing to compromise on a rate that works for you. I am just a college student looking to do what I can to get a little bit more money in order to afford college.
I look forward to hearing you and help the student achieve their goal for the summer.
Thank you for the consideration! Hello,
I am a young student who completed her first year at Saint Louis University as a Health Sciences major and Psychology minor. $25 for piano lessons per hour. $12.50 for piano lessons per half hour. Tutoring in subjects vary in price.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I worked at a local branch of nationally recognized tutoring center as an assistant and helped children in K-6th with their additions, subtractions, multiplications, and divisions, and pre-algebra. I also helped them with their spelling and grammar.
I've been exposed to music since the age of 4 when I began piano lessons. I know how to play piano and violin and was in choir. I can teach all the notes on the keyboard, on the staff, and not only can I teach them the letters A through G, but I can also correspond them to the do re mi's because I was in choir. I can teach them all the types of notes (like quarter, whole, eighth, etc.) and help them with their beats. I can help compose music as I did with my 3 students for piano. I have packets from my previous general music classes as well that can help teach a student.
I had lessons since I was the age of 4 to 4th grade. From 4th-8th grade I learned violin and was in choir. Before freshman year I began piano again and taught a student for the next four years. I also taught another student for 2 years and another for 1 year.
