About Sarah

Hi! My name is Sarah and I am currently a Junior Vocal Performance major. I have a background in operatic performance and have formal training in vocal pedagogy. I have taken several advanced music history courses and have a passion for classical music. I have completed my college aural skills courses and am a gifted sight reader.

I bring a good work ethic, charisma, and a passion for music to the table. I have been working as a teaching assistant for music history for the past year and know how to research historical topics. I love to help people learn, and hope that I can help others feel as passionate about music as I do!

I have performed several roles on the operatic stage and know quite a bit about vocal literature and pedagogy. I am currently workings towards a BM and hope to continue on to get a double masters in performance and musicology/ethnomusicology. The history of music is a large passion of mine, and I have the skills to help others looking into this field.

I have flexible hours and am willing to stay up late to accommodate people's schedules. Contact me for more information!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Music History

In my years as a student, I have taken several classes about Music History, starting with the medieval era, stretching into the late 20th century. For the past year, I have been working as a teaching assistant for a Medieval-Renaissance music history class. Having taken it already, I have a further appreciation for this period of music and have a better idea of what it is like to teach music history to another student.

Voice (Music)

I have been studying voice for seven years and have been performing in operatic productions for three. I have taught voice lessons as part of a vocal pedagogy class, and understand the physical and psychological aspects of the voice. I am a caring and fun individual, and do well in one-on-one situations.
