Hello potential students and parents,

My name is Zach and over the past 6 years I have worked at improving my teaching skills in the hopes of becoming a high school math/science teacher or college professor. My teaching journey started my junior year of high school when I served as a student helper for my former 1st grade teacher. I worked side-by-side with students to aid them in subjects like Math, Science, and English. Through this experience, I learned a lot about what goes into teaching and the authentic love and respect that a good teacher has for all of their students. During those years, I also served as an assistant coach for my younger brother's baseball team while simultaneously acting as captain for my varsity baseball team. Then, in college (where I studied Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Economics), I held positions as a teacher's assistant in two Computer Science courses. For those positions, I helped a group of 4 students through daily coding studios as well as held weekly office hours in which any student from the class was able to come and ask for help. Finally, I completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification course in order to teach English in Japan, which was unfortunately derailed due to COVID. Therefore, I am taking the time now to continue to improve my teaching/tutoring skills and fully develop my teaching methods.

Speaking of teaching methods, my style is fully student-centered. In the first few sessions, I will get an idea of a student's learning pace and tailor the remaining lessons to their tempo. This is especially important for ELL students because it is very easy to get overwhelmed when learning a new language. I understand that each student is unique and responds differently to certain stimuli, therefore I try to learn a student's tendencies quickly to make lessons as efficient as possible. Another important thing about me is that I am easy-going, especially in matters of conflict. I will not discipline a student, instead I will encoura
