I work full-time as an electronics engineer and I attend graduate school part-time for my Master's Degree (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering with a graduate minor in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University (ISU). As an undergraduate, I attended Northern Illinois University (NIU) where I graduated in May 2016 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with two minors in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics and an undergraduate Certificate of Study in Nanotechnology.

From my time at NIU, I also have a small background in education, having been a Teacher's/Teaching Assistant (TA) for an undergraduate mechanical engineering course while I was a senior at NIU, working both semesters on that course. This job meant that I had to patiently work with students who may have struggled with the subject and I had to spend additional time outside of class refreshing my knowledge on the course's subject matter.

Being an engineer, I am immersed in science and mathematics all the time. I have worked heavily to gain a strong background in the hard sciences and mathematics, even completing undergraduate minors, and I am patient enough to teach these subjects slowly and thoroughly. I also have a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, and am working towards an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, so I come in with a very full background that can help me to cover more aspects of mathematics and the hard sciences for students.

Patient and Knowledgeable Tutor

John provided Alg. II tutoring for our daughter and helped her raise her ACT Math score 6 points. He is currently tutoring our son in Alg. I and is making a huge impact. John patiently breaks down the theory and logic of the problems in a way his student can grasp.

Perfect tutor

John is a perfect example of what a tutor on Wyzant should strive to be. Patient and caring! My son is a hard kid to teach. He struggles with attention issues (ADD) but he is trying to get in the army. John is doing a fantastic job at helping him achieve his goals.
