About Sandy

"If a child doesn't learn the way you teach, Teach the way they learn."

I possess more than 15 years of progressive experience in the Elementary field. Most recently, my responsibilities
were as a gifted teacher for 1st. and 2nd Graders. As the Gifted teacher my duties included organizing, implementing, and supporting modified instructional strategies to meet the needs of gifted students in gifted and/or basic education classes.

My professional history includes teaching 1 – 5 grades. My ability to mentor and connect with students would make me a good tutor for your child.

I have experience teaching several reading curriculums, McMillan, Reading Street and Open Court to name a few. I would design a plan for your child after meeting him or her.

I have taught First Grade for 6 years, 2nd Grade for 3 years, 4th Grade for three years however, I have experience teaching all grades 1-5 through substituting and volunteering.

I have Open Court and Saxon Phonics teaching experience.

Please give me a call so I can share my gift and passion and love for teaching with your child.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Handwriting

I have a passion for teaching handwriting printing and cursive. I have taught Zaner, D'Nealian and Bowman/Noble programs. I possess more than 15 years of progressive experience in the Elementary field.

Phonics

I have experience teaching Open court and Saxon Phonics teaching strategies.
