I have ten years of high school science teaching experience. While at IowaState I majored in biology, and I have also added endorsements in general science and chemistry. During my teaching career I have taught biology, chemistry, physical science and earth science. I have also worked one on one with students as an at-risk teacher. I currently stay home with my three young boys, but I am looking for the opportunity to keep use my teaching skills to help students out. I enjoy the opportunity to help people become more comfortable with science, and I would like to continue to grow and improve as a teacher.
Each child is unique, so I work to find what methods and approaches work best for each. Success as a student can be greatly enhanced by a learning experience that is tailored to his/her strengths. That is how I will attempt to make students successful in a tutoring setting. I have ten years of high school science teaching experience. Jason has done an amazing job! When my son started seeing him he was at 19% (F) and now he is 4 points away from B!!!!
Jason came prepared and was very helpful and patient with my son. He arrived early and stayed late to ensure we got the full hour too! He gave me an update at the end of the lesson. Best of all, my son liked him and is looking forward to working with him. Very impressed!
Jason is a knowledgeable and a professional tutor. He was flexible to schedule meetings on the weekend. Jason helped with ACT Science preparations and was able to evaluate current preparedness with several tests in different scientific domains, and identified specific areas to improve. Jason is kind and easy to work with.
Jason is a great match for my son. He was able to encourage him in his weak areas and did the problems with him.
We had a first meeting. Seemed to go well with all. Looking forward to working with him as the semester progresses. Mostly getting to know each other. It's really annoying that this will not let me leave a shorter review. Sorry to be difficult
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I got a 30 in ACT science as a junior in high school. When looking into tutoring at Huntington Learning Center two years ago, I retook the ACT and got a perfect 36 on the science section. My teaching experience encompasses many different types of science, and I emphasized the collection and interpretation of data. That is much of what the ACT science section asks a student to do.
Having taught science for ten years, I used algebra on essentially a daily basis. Variable equations, graphing and slopes are all things used regularly for science material. I took math classes through Calculus and earned A's while doing so. I feel that I could be of great help to a student struggling with Algebra I.
I majored in Biology at Iowa State University. I also have 7 years of experience teaching it at the high school level. As an at-risk teacher, I also tutored students one on one in biology, as well as other subjects.
My teaching license includes a Chemistry endorsement. I Taught high school chemistry for the last five years of my teaching career. I took enough credits in chemistry to be endorsed coming out of college, but I also took a 5 credit organic chemistry graduate class to further my knowledge. I emphasized the interpretation of collected data to teach the core concepts of chemistry.
I have a general science endorsement on my teaching license. I have taught physical science classes, as well as chemistry courses throughout my ten years of teaching. I taught many lab-based courses and emphasized collection and interpretation of data, as well as inferences that could be drawn from lab results.
