“**Awesome Teacher**”

I know I can help you succeed in math.

I'm an experienced mathematician and a former college math professor who really knows how to help students learn and understand math. I also have many years of experience applying mathematics in government and private industries.

Here is a review from one of my Finite Math students: "Dr.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I'm a mathematician and former math professor. I include ACT English as a tutoring subject partly to go along with ACT Math. I actually started college majoring in Journalism and English, after I was recruited by the journalism department. They recruited me on the basis of my ACT English score and my Freshman College English CLEP Exam score. So I can help you with both ACT Math and ACT English, if this is what you're seeking in a tutor.

Aside from my experience as a math professor, I have worked as a trainer for two different, nationally-known ACT/SAT tutoring businesses. Aside from helping students to understand the math content for these tests, it's also important to improve test-taking strategies. I can help you with this.

I'm a mathematician and former math professor with a strong science background. Aside from helping students to understand the science content for these tests, it's also important to improve test-taking strategies. I can help you with this.

I have taught this material many times in a community college setting. A specialty of mine is helping students with "story problems". I've developed some terrific approaches to helping students grasp this type of math problem. I will be able to help you, too.

I taught college astronomy for two years. This was an introductory course in astronomy for non-science majors. I also have been a lifelong astronomy enthusiast. My main subject is mathematics, in which I have a PhD, and many years of teaching experience. This can be helpful in astronomy. Many of the difficulties in astronomy are related to the mathematics involved: gravity equations, the equations relating stellar temperature and brightness, and so on. I've found ways to make these notions clearer and easier for students.

I have taught all levels of undergraduate college calculus many times. Also, I frequently apply it in the workplace. I know how to help students through the tough spots.

I have taught ordinary differential equations classes many times at a university for engineering students. I can teach and tutor the methods for solving linear (homogeneous and non-homogeneous) and non-linear first and second order DEqs using methods such as the separation of variables method, variation of parameters, reduction of order, method of undetermined coefficients. I can also teach and tutor Laplace transforms.

I have taught discrete math a great many times as a college faculty member. At Iowa State University, I served as course supervisor for their "mathematics for the business and social sciences" course, which included the classic topic sequence of Linear systems of equations, basic matrix algebra, Leonteif models, Linear programming (optimization of linear functions subject to linear inequality constraints) the simplex method, the dual method, counting problems, combinatorics, probability, up through Bayes' theorem and Markov Chains.

I am a PhD mathematician and former mathematics professor. I have served as the course supervisor for Finite Math at a large state university, and have taught this course many times. I know how to explain this material in ways that make sense to students. I'd enjoy helping you with Finite Math.

I'm a mathematician with many years of experience teaching mathematics. One of the biggest challenges in the high school geometry course is the writing of "proofs". I've developed many approaches to helping students with this.

I'm a PhD mathematician with many years of teaching experience. Also I have worked as a trainer for two different, nationally-known test-preparation businesses. Aside from helping students to understand the math content for The GMAT, it's also important to improve test-taking strategies. I can help you with this.

I have taught all of this material before in university classes -- everything from simple systems of linear equations and matrix operations, up through topics appropriate for junior and senior engineering majors -- rank and nullity of matrices and linear transformations, change-of-basis formulas, linear dependence and independence of sets of vectors, the span of a set of vectors, orthonormal matrices, projection matrices, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, generalized eigenvectors and Jordan Cannonical forms.

I forgot to mention under the topic of differential equations that I have also taught the use of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions to solve systems of constant-coefficient (linear) differential equations.

I have used much of this material professionally in my work on GPS for a communications company.

I'm a PhD mathematician with many years of experience teaching college math, including Logic. I have helped many students with this material, and I'd enjoy having the opportunity to help you.

I have taught this material many times to students ranging in age from 10 to adult. A specialty of mine is helping students with "story problems". I've developed some terrific approaches to helping students grasp this type of math problem. I will be able to help you, too.

"Precalculus" can include a wide variety of topics. I have taught all of these topics many times in a college setting. I can help you get through this material.

Probability was a big part of the first college course I taught 30 years ago. Most courses featuring Probability also include the "counting problems" such as those involving permutations and combinations. I have taught this many times and I've developed many tools which help students to master this material. I also use this material routinely in my work in industry.

I can help you improve the grammar and "flow" of your written work.

I have extensive experience in writing and proofreading papers and documents in academia and in industry.

I have taught college statistics (Freshman level) for several years. I frequently apply statistical analysis in my work in the communications industry. Beyond knowing "the formulas", it's especially important in statistics to get a feeling for why we use one statistical method rather than another. I know how to convey these things to students.

As a former mathematics professor, I have taught both college and high-school-level Trigonometry many times. I have also routinely used this material in the workplace. In my years of experience I've found many ways to help students over the rough spots.
