Bio

Hi there, my name is Sydney and I graduated in December 2018 with a degree in Anthropology and three minors in Spanish, Biology, and Global Studies. While I was in my undergrad, I ran DI cross country and track for the entire duration so that really kept me busy for most of the year. Hi there, my name is Sydney and I graduated in December 2018 with a degree in Anthropology and three minors in Spanish, Biology, and Global Studies. While I was in my undergrad, I ran DI cross country and track for the entire duration so that really kept me busy for most of the year. However, as a part time on-campus job I was able to be a tutor at our athlete success center where I got to tutor my fellow student athletes in multiple college subjects. Some of these subjects included Spanish, Biology, Statistics, English Comp, Anatomy & Phys, and Social Studies.
For the past year I was working in an admissions office at a university as an admission counselor. In that role I helped numerous students and their families with the stressful college application process. I counseled prospective students on academics, enrollment, and financial aid. I love being able to help students achieve something, whether that be conquering a subject, passing a class, or getting to college!

I received my undergraduate degree in anthropology and love the subject with my whole heart. I have a great understanding of each of the four sub-fields that make up anthropology, (Cultural, Biological, Linguistic, and Archaeology) and have been helping people learn and understand what it is since the day I chose it as my major! I have multiple college level books on different subject matters, frequently stay up to date on antrho publishing, and still converse with past professors.

I have 4+ years of experience in writing college level papers and assisting classmates, students, teammates, and friends with editing papers. My favorite saying about my writing style is that my first draft is my last draft, because I like to make it perfect the first time around. I am not an easy going paper editor. I will not shy away from pointing out grammatical or structural errors in order for you to get a good grade or better understanding of how to write.

I ran cross country and track for four years in high school, and four and half years in college. I was an NCAA Division I runner with all conference individual accolades. I was a team captain for nearly three years in college and I have lots experience with training, workouts, and running mentoring. Currently I am training for Boston 2020.

I have a pretty open schedule and really love to help students learn and achieve, so please give me a try and I promise you will not be disappointed!

Anthropology

Anthropology

My passion for anthropology is like none other. I graduated with a degree in Anthropology, an excellent major coursework GPA, and I have senior level course experience in all four sub fields: Cultural, Linguistic, Biological, and Archaeology. I participated in several special topics classes that dove deeper into niche areas of anthro, that include topics such as medical anthropology and language revival. I also completed my final coursework for my degree with lectures and research regarding anthropological theory/methods. I now work for a non-profit community program that helps underrepresented populations of parents with the everyday struggles of being a new parent—especially while already experiencing adverse situations.

Previously worked as an admission counselor in the Office of Admissions at Southeast Missouri State University. I have experience with students from both rural and urban communities as well as various social and economic backgrounds. I assisted students with finding the right fit for them when it came to picking a school and then continued to follow through with their shown interest. This included helping them with the application, submitting test scores/transcripts, financial aid literacy, counselor check-ins, orientation/enrollment, and much more.
