About Katlin

I am adept in mathematics up to Integration, so I can tutor in most high school math courses as well as some college courses. My method for tutoring math is variable up on the student's needs. If one method will not work, then another approach will be used until the student is able to understand the material with no aid. If students do not improve grade-wise, then at the bare minimum they will begin to see the steps necessary in order to arrive at the solution and not just the solution.

For the sciences, I am adept in all high school sciences as well as the general chemistry, physics and biology college level courses. My method for the sciences, most notably physics and chemistry, are aimed at making the connections between the differing equations that are given to the students. Physics is heavily based on equations, chemistry is based on equations and the elements, and biology is more memory based.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

The ACT Math portion of the ACT. I will be able to aide you in the studying it and give you some pointers on some of the questions.

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is just building the basic concepts of algebra 1 up a level and adding a few new concepts. I will be able to teach you everything you need to know for this course. I am able to break each problem down to it's core ideas so you are able to not just get an answer, but to understand the more generalized form of that problem.

Chess

I am able to teach others the basics of chess as well as a few more advanced moves. Also, the chess culture and rules/regulations for those wanting to indulge themselves into such an interesting field.

Clarinet

I have played the clarinet for over 9 years. I played in elementary school and junior high school for fun. When I began to play in high school, I was in the secondary band my first two years and then I moved up to the top five clarinet players of the primary band. I know all of the scales, majority of the arpeggios and of course the chromatic scale. Scales are your friends.

Study Skills

I studied hard throughout my primary and secondary schooling. My gpa was 3.68 at the end of my high school career. I did not study for hours on end as some of you might think. However, I did not just skim pages of a textbook either. I studied intelligently, wasting as little time as possible. I can help one build their study habits even from the ground up. I have found out that one must have the will to study though, if any progress is to be made.
