I have been a successful elementary teacher for 20 years. Teaching has always been my passion. When I was little, I didn't play house with my dolls, I played teacher. Then that uniqueness can be used to tailor the lessons truly to the person. That's when real learning happens.
I have tutored for over 5 years, Kindergarten to 5th grade, mostly the common core subjects. I love the flexibility of tutoring. The lessons can be directly related to the student which increases retention. The lessons can be outside at the park, or at the library, or at the grocery store. There is so much more modification that can be done when it's one-on-one . That's where the challenge and the creativity of teaching occurs....and the reward of watching a child understand a concept and feel the confidence from that knowledge.

* I also worked for a technology company for 7 years, so I am proficient in using computer programs and apps in the tutoring curriculum
* My college double major was Education and English
* I just finished my PreK endorsement and am one class away from finishing my Reading Endorsement
* I have taken professional development classes in Visual Phonics, Explode the Code, and All About Reading, Kate Show and Times Alive, and have used these in my classrooms and tutoring
* I use the Sing, Spell, Read & Write, Reading Street and Words Their Way literacy programs
