I have always loved children. I have volunteered at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Shelter Rock, there I have led workshops and leadership training for grades 7-12. I have volunteered at P.S.19 where I spent time working with grade K-5 in a library and later in an inclusion second grade classroom. I attended Urban Assembly School for Green Careers where I received biological and horticultural training. I have also worked as an intern in the Urban Assembly garden where I specialized and taught classes in flower botany to pre-schoolers. I am committed to working with children in creative ways through gardening, music, and textiles.
As an education major at Queens College I have taken advanced math courses as well as courses in teaching math. Math has always been my strong suit as I casually tutored math to many of my peers in high school. Though out my academic career my peers have looked to me for help with math. With my background I know I could help children and teen understand math better
I have worked inside a elementary school library where I was able to teach young people a love for reading. I cannot wait to continue.
As an elementary education major at Queens college I take the required courses to be able to tutor students in the area. I have worked in an inclusion second grade classroom for several months I have a lot of experience wit this age group.
