I taught first grade for 30!+ years. My passion is reading and writing. Over the years many new fads came and went, but I found there is no substitute for old methodologies which I used successfully over the years. I love children and love to see their eyes light up when they master reading.
Currently I volunteer in an ESL program in our local community. I can speak three languages fluently.

I also volunteer in a first grade classroom where i work with the children on their comprehension skills. I also help at our local library where I help with the summer reading program.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
