I have previously worked as a full-time professor at a 4 year college. During that time, I was also the faculty advisor and editor for the school newspaper.
I have college level teaching experience in Journalism courses, Communication courses, and writing courses. In 2012, I received my PhD in Mass Communication with numerous awards in teaching and research from the University and International Communications Organizations. My masters degree was earned in 2004 at the University of Missouri-Columbia in Broadcast Journalism. During my studies, I worked as a part-time TV reporter.
Throughout my graduate school and undergraduate school years, I tutored many students (Kindergarten to adult age) to assist them in English speaking, writing, and listening. I've also taught TOEFL to high school and college students. Most recently, I've assisted students in applying to graduate schools. In addition, I've also helped recent graduates prepare for job interviews. Some of my clients are now students at University of Southern California Dental School, George Washington University, and University of Georgia. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I used to be a professor at a 4 year college. I quit when my baby was born. I have a PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication. I have taught at Universities as a TA, Instructor, and Assistant Professor in subjects: Journalism, Reporting, Intercultural Communication, and Ethnicity, Gender, and Media.
I have tutored English during my college years, during my MA program, and while I was a PhD student. I've taught elementary, middle school, high school, college, and adult students. Subjects taught were: English conversation, Business conversation, TOEFL, SAT English subjects, and listening.
