Aloha, My name is Wendi, and I have published two books and written articles for newspapers and magazines. I am a summa cum laude graduate, with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and a Master of Divinity Degree. I would be happy to help your child with reading, writing, spelling, or vocabulary assignments. I can also tutor elementary school students in math.
I have experience working with pre-school students to help prepare them for kindergarten (teaching colors, shapes, numbers, the alphabet, etc.), and have taught elementary and high school students in church settings. I have also tutored students ranging from a first grader to a high school student, so I am comfortable working with all ages (though I especially enjoy working with younger children).
I look forward to hearing from you and deciding together if I am the right person to help your child. I was very impressed by Wendi's professionalism and was amazed that she was able to get my son to read 31 pages in just 1 hour. I am very pleased. I have a difficult time getting my son to read just one paragraph. My son also commented that Wendi is very nice and I think this is important as well in the arena of learning. Thank-you Wendi!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master of Divinity Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. I have taught kids in the elementary age group in Sunday School classes and in an afterschool tutoring program. During the last academic year, I tutored a 1st grader and 5th grader in Math, and as part of that tutoring also helped with their reading comprehension. I am very patient and skilled at helping students feel good about themselves and their abilities as they struggle to understand concepts and answer questions correctly.
I have a Master of Divinity degree and am an ordained minister. Every week I write and preach a sermon. I have extensive public speaking experience and am eager to share my knowledge with others.
I love to read, and have ever since I was a child. I welcome the opportunity to help others discover the power of the written word and the pleasure of reading great books!
I am a patient teacher and especially enjoy working with young children.
