Hello! My name is Nate, I'm from New York, where I graduated summa cum laude from Binghamton University. Since last year though, I live on Hawai'i's "Garden Isle," Kaua'i with my wife and pets!

I have been teaching English as a foreign language for several years, so I have plenty of experience teaching students from elementary school age and beginner-level to near-native adults, and everyone in between. In my time as an English teacher, I have taught structured curriculums and developed my own lesson plans, taught classes focused on grammar and precision as well as conversational fluency, and helped students complete assignments, presentations, and develop strong pieces of writing as a part of their language journey. Here, I am using the skills I have developed as a teacher in two of my favorite subjects: Japanese and Spanish!

My interest in these languages started when I was young, and I pursued them with a passion in college. They have led me to major in Spanish and minor in Japanese Studies in college, as well as a year abroad in Argentina, several months backpacking through South America, and a teaching job in Tokyo. My interests in these languages range from the history and cultures associated with them, music and travel, and the nuances of the languages themselves — I'm one of the few people I know to actually study non-joyo kanji for fun!

I have experienced every peak and valley studying these languages, and I know how challenging it can be to learn a new language — however, I also know how rewarding it has been to learn these languages and to experience everything that goes along with them! We all have different goals when it comes to learning a new language, but whether you want to live in another country or just enjoy some of your favorite TV shows in another language, there is no reason a tricky grammar point should keep you from achieving these goals. I am here to help you master even the parts of these languages that you find most challenging, and hopefully, maybe even develop your own p
