My name is Jazlyn and I am currently an Educational Assistant at Kaneohe Elementary. I work with lower elementary (K - 2) special needs children and also help in assisting other children in the classroom. I have been working with special needs children for may years now. The past two years specifically have been at Kaneohe Elementary. Working with children with disabilities big or small are my passion based mainly on the fact that these kids don't have patient people in their lives to help them focus on what they need to succeed. It is truly a blessing for me to watch these children grow!
I've worked with a wide variety of children. I was a site coordinator for an after school program for 8 years. In this type of setting I've learned to be sensitive to the needs of different types of children. The most important lesson I've learned in this field and also as an EA is that every child needs a different approach to learning and with the right person supporting them, every child can get to where they need to be.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked and am currently working as an Educational Assistant working 1 on 1 with students with Special Needs. I've learned that every student needs a different approach to learning.
