Chinese is a very difficult language and I enjoy helping other students to grasp all the complexities of the language. I am currently tutoring several adult students over my lunch break at work in the language. I focus on not only speaking Chinese, but also reading and writing. I have students learn simplified and traditional versions of the characters and make sure to take time to provide a good foundation before venturing into difficult material.
I studied Chinese for over two years and have passed several placement exams. Additionally, I am working on my MBA with a focus in International Business. I studied German in college and my experience learning Chinese while knowing two other languages has helped me to understand any potential problem for prospective students. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
