My want to teach comes from my love of learning. I believe that we are all forever learners. To be able to help a child with their learning difficulties is to nurture their brain and to allow it to grow to its full potential.
As a cum laude graduate, I know that hard work truly pays off and sets the groundwork for the next steps in life. I have always had an innate understanding of numbers and math, amazed by its logic and the connections between numbers. Algebra and geometry are my stronger areas, but I have done coursework all the way up to pre-calculus. Writing and words are my other passion. As a poet and creative writer, I strongly hold firm that correct spelling and proper grammar can take anyone to the top of their career ladder. The most beautiful ideas cannot be laid without these imperative literary foundations. I can help you or your child make sense of numbers or express the most vivid verses of prose.
Other subjects I have knowledge in are science (chemistry, physics, physical science, psychology, sociology), bookkeeping and accounting, and American and world history.
I am new to this site, but not to tutoring. I have been tutoring family members and friends' children since middle school and worked for a few years at a local tutoring organization, helping kids with private school entrance testing, prepping for SAT exams, and students with autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning challenges. The feeling of finally seeing a light bulb go off in my students' minds is one of the greatest rewards on this earth.
One of my all-time favorite poets, Maya Angelou, is famous for saying, "Once we know better, we do better." Allow me to help you or your child grow their "know." My want to teach comes from my love of learning. I believe that we are all forever learners. To be able to help a child with their learning difficulties is to nurture their brain and to allow it to grow to its full potential.

We really liked the way Nina approached working with our kids. She was very positive and encouraging. We had a very fun productive morning as she helped with their K12 distance learning program.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've been working with QuickBooks Pro for the past 7-1/2 years as a staff accountant/financial assistant for a non-profit org in processing accounts receivables, accounts payables, inputting payroll, making adjustment entries, closing out monthly books, and generating monthly financial statements. Our company recently upgraded to QuickBooks Pro 2014, Non-Profit edition. Before accepting this job back in 2006, I took courses in Beginning QB and Intermediate QB to familiarize myself and learn how to use and post entries in QuickBooks.
