About Peter

Bio

Hi,

My name is Peter, I graduated from USC this past May with a degree in Psychology. I know what it feels like to struggle in a subject and end up hating it. The reason most students do not like a subject such as math, or biology is because they do not understand it. Every one learns differently and at their own pace, I can attest to that - there were many times where I needed something explained more than once or in a different way.

I have experience as a teacher aide at Kawananakoa Middle school in Nuuanu; I helped tutor 6th - 8th grade math and assisted students in pretty every other subject they had. It makes me feel good when I can help someone understand a concept or get a problem right because I struggled at understanding things when I was a student too. Even in college, I needed help getting things explained, but that's what friends and tutors are for!

I'm a really patient person and I am here to help. BUT having a tutor does not mean you are magically going to learn a concept or figure out a problem. YOU have to want to learn and put forth the effort. My patience and my willingness to try all kinds of methods to try to explain a concept is what allows me to be a good math tutor. I like to use physical objects, sports, movie characters, and different life scenarios. When it comes to History, I've always been good at History because I naturally enjoyed it. My love and enthusiasm for all kinds of history will bleed into how I tutor - with passion. To me, History is just a big story and I love story telling! In my opinion, it's all about attitude, if you have the right mindset and attitude, then let's get to it! Give me a call, a text, or even a facebook message. I'm always nearby my phone so schedule a lesson with me and I'll try to make learning fun again.

American History

I excelled at history in high school and into college. In high school I never received a grade below an A in every single history class I took. In college, I never received lower than a B + in every history class that I took. History comes natural to me and I enjoy trying to make history for students because it comes so natural to me. I am genuinely interested in history and I believe that I can truly help students understand the subject.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I am qualified to tutor in this subject because I tutored all levels of math while in high school (it was a requirement for both precalculus and AP calculus in high school). When I recently worked at a middle school, I tutored 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in math from Math 3 to Algebra 1. I am good at explaining math because it is logically intuitive to me.
Algebra 2,
