Preparing with a tutor is very much like training with a professional coach or personal trainer. The serious student who plans for success takes advantage of a tutor in the same way pro-athletes use coaches or personal trainers. Getting help from a professional is a source of pride and a recognition of your potential for greatness.

My name is Aaron Morris and I'm a down-to-earth, friendly professional who enjoys working with students to meet their academic goals and build confidence on the path to career success.

I communicate concepts with ordinary language and more importantly, I know how to listen. From experience, I know how to get results, and I care deeply about the success of each one of my students. Students are quite comfortable with my tutoring style and look forward to my tutoring sessions – as do I.

I work with students who find themselves in all manner of situations:
Students in high school, middle and elementary school, magnet schools and home schools.
Highly capable students who want to get the best possible grades.
Students who are failing a class and need immediate crisis management.
Students who have problems with procrastination or focus.
Students who want to get ahead with early preparation.
Students who need to rebuild a basic foundation in mathematics or the sciences.
Students with poor motivation, study skills or self-confidence.
Students with bad teachers or disruptive classrooms.
Students who want to improve their scores on standardized tests.

My background in Environmental Engineering has given me practical experience in the natural sciences, mathematics, as well as test preparation. I tutor in material from post-secondary to elementary levels.

I'm a native of Southwest Florida and attained my Engineering degrees and certifications there before moving to Oahu Hawai'i in 2017 where I now consult and tutor pa

Elementary Education

Elementary (K-6th),

Elementary (K-6th)

My experience with elementary school students has been as a Sunday School teacher at the Naples Community Church. This has helped me to better understand the mind of a child and to tailor my teaching strategies to meet their needs. Over the years I have designed and used a wide variety of manipulatives to help elementary students understand abstract concepts, particularly in Math and Science. My main philosophy is that elementary education should be challenging but fun.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra is as much a language as it is a mathematics subject. Many students when first introduced to the subject experience difficulty grasping algebra as both a language and/or a math subject. Often I find students who struggle with algebra were not properly prepared to meet the material, or, the justifications of the material are covered so quickly that many students are unable to connect the material in a meaningful way that leads to retention. I have a fluent understanding of algebra concepts and years of experience applying this abstract subject to real-world engineering problems.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Textbooks tend to have different definitions of Algebra 2, Trigonometry and Precalculus. Therefore, I have seen certain topics and concepts covered in Algebra 2 in one school, but in Precalculus in another. I have experience tutoring all three subjects and am familiar with the vast majority of topics and concepts that may be covered in any of the courses.
Biology,

Biology

As an environmental engineer and naturalist, biology is of personal importance to me. I'm passionate about creating interest and imparting enthusiasm in this indispensable subject with a detailed-oriented teaching approach and examples from already familiar subjects. I train biology students to become resilient critical thinkers and problem solvers. Biology is the examination or relationships within systems. Academic success is made through contextualizing the individual biology concepts within a larger but still knowable and personal narrative of relationships.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Chemistry: one word for such a large body of material! My knowledge of this subject ranges from middle school Earth and General Sciences through high school Chemistry, Chemistry Honors, AP to college level Introductory Chemistry and Lab work, as well as more advanced subjects of Organic, Physical and Analytic Chemistry. This is my favorite subject to teach, so don't hesitate if you have questions. Ask away!

Precalculus,

Precalculus

Throughout my tutoring career, I've greatly enjoyed gathering together all the topics touched upon in Pre-calculus and am very familiar with the high school curriculum. I also have a great deal of experience, both practical and instructional, in Calculus and know how important a sound knowledge of Pre-calculus is to future professional success. I give clear explanations and draw upon a broad knowledge base to support to students in bringing together material last related in Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra I & II. Many of the Wyzant reviews I've received are from Pre-Calculus students.

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

For many students, ACT preparation often amounts to reviewing concepts and cramming as many problems as possible into the weeks prior to their exam. In my experience, this has limited success, is time-consuming and above all is stressful. I offer a different method than assaulting ACT practice sets with brute force. Similar to the methodology used in training for professional athletics, we start by learning the best ACT test-taking techniques, followed by directed application of those techniques in one-on-one practice. In math, learning good technique means learning the most efficient way to solve each type of problem. Once you master the techniques, then it is practice, practice, practice. For the best results, students should expect to invest 1-2 hours of independent practice time for each hour of tutoring time, and do so in the context of ACT exam segments. I have coached students to improve their scores from 6 to 12 points during the course of one or two months. It will work for you too.

Trigonometry

Learning trigonometry is more than memorizing which buttons to use on a calculator, and yet this subject -- fundamental in all branches of mathematics -- is frequently reduced to calculator operations. I'll teach you how to make and use your own diagrams as a durable problem-solving method you can carry with you. Learn how to check your solutions to know your answers are correct and learn memorization tools that will help you organize the wide range of concepts first introduced in this course.

As a 6th generation Floridian who grew up on the edge of the Everglades my sense of place and family history is deeply intertwined with the cycles and relationships of Florida's undisturbed lands. As a young man, this sense of place became a sense of purpose directed towards protecting my home's natural habitats from the changes development and prosperity brought to Southwest Florida. Ultimately this culminated in my professional degree and specialization in environmental engineering, which has brought me into association with world-renowned experts in ecology and environmental science over the course of my career. Since relocating with my wife to Hawai'i for work opportunities, I have continued to practice and teach this personal and fascinating subject.

Good tutor

Aaron did a great job with the first few lessons for my son. Hopefully he'll be able to improve his SAT score a lot! Very nice and pleasant personality. We hope to use him again.

Gerry, 2 lessons with Aaron

knowledgable and straight forward with info

came across very well to my 17 yr old who needs to be explained things in a different manner to comprehend.

Tammy, 3 lessons with Aaron

Very nice, well spoken young man, eager to help and teach in any way he can.

Aaron M. has been helping me study and learn 1 on 1, outside the classroom. Which allows me to further advance my knowledge of the material being studied. I actually find it quite amazingly coincidental that he has a degree in the field I am studying. Frankly, if he continues to tutor college level studies, i will be seeing him as much as possible for as long as possible. Fun Fact of the Day: 4 days ago I was totally lost on my precal exam material, a couple sessions with him and some major self study time earned me a 93% on the exam. That's all the proof I need. Thanks Aaron!!!

Nicholas, 2 lessons with Aaron

Very helpful

Aaron helped my son organize his study materials for an upcoming test. My son seems to be able to connect the concepts better.

Maureen, 12 lessons with Aaron

Great teacher.

Aaron is very patient and a great motivator. He has made learning math fun for my granddaughter. I haven't seen her this excited about learning anything for a long time.

Patricia, 6 lessons with Aaron

Great tutor, both parent and student happy!

Aaron connects well with student and keeps him on task. Great communications with parent as well, prompt responses and very accommodating.

Sharon, 15 lessons with Aaron

Good Tutor

Alexis has shown marked improvement. Aaron is going over lessons explaining lessons and doing practice problems with Alexis. He has improved teaching technique to insure Alexis understands concepts etc.
