My most memorable learning experiences were with instructors who took the time to make learning fun and exciting, while encouraging students to excel by teaching basic skills to help them help themselves. By incorporating these skills and techniques with patience and interest towards the individual and their specific learning styles, all subjects are taught with ease and enthusiasm making learning enjoyable and interesting. In 2000 I worked with pre-schooler's as an art instructor at CC'S Playhouse in Seattle, WA More recently from 2003-2006 in Boise, ID. I worked with mentally challenged individuals on a daily basis assisting and teaching basic life skills, along with social and outdoor activities. One of my most memorable moments was teaching a young lady how to fish, from baiting the hook to cleaning. It was all new to her, but she loved it and learned well, catching at least 6 fish in a short time.

Sports/Recreation

Chess,

Chess

I first learned to play chess at the age of 10 from my older brother. Then continued as an adult with my roommate. Since then I have played and studied on-line. I have also taught and played chess with family and friends. I am able to teach with patience in a fun way for the student to learn and enjoy the game. Chess is often thought of as complicated and involved. This can lead to players feeling that they don't have the ability to learn the game. Yet, the reality is that chess can be taught to anybody.
Swimming

Swimming

When it comes to swimming, I'm a natural! I have always loved the water and enjoy swimming and teaching others to swim. I have taught adults and children to swim. With patience and encouragement, I work with the individual to become confident while respecting water safety protocol. I have been swimming for over 40 years including High School swim team. I am CPR and First Aid Certified.

Highly recommend!

As a senior (75) who had never learned to play board games before, I'm really grateful to Marcie for getting me off to a good start in learning to play chess. She made it fun and gave me confidence to continue learning. I appreciate her mellow and unintimidating patient approach!
