If you or your child would like to improve a grade, fine-tune a writing assignment, or simply learn to draw, I would love to work with you! I specialize in academic writing, research, and analysis, as well as fine-art drawing and painting. I provide services for people of all ages and skill levels!
I have enjoyed employment as a tutor at a liberal arts college writing center, serve as a volunteer tutor for underprivileged children and, of course, currently offer private tutoring sessions! My experience working one-on-one with individuals of such diverse backgrounds throughout the creative process has taught me how unique each mind truly is. Essentially, this concept is the crux of my tutoring philosophy and the driving force behind my method. I work with each student to design unique lessons that cater to his or her particular personality and learning style. I like to allow my clients the space to dictate and guide our lessons rather than imposing my own preferences and style-- I am here to accommodate your needs, not the other way around. That being said, I work diligently to provide students with the tools and advice they need. I do my "homework" to ensure the highest quality instruction, and will continue to explore or invent new teaching techniques until we arrive at one that best suits you. Whether you learn best with music, through games, or in quiet, structured environments, I hope to nurture your emerging talents! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Not only have I enjoyed drawing as a favorite hobby since my early childhood, but I have excelled in several drawing courses at Fort Lewis College and at Metropolitan State College. I am well researched in popular techniques and materials, and have experience working with colored pencils, graphite, charcoal, chalk and oil pastels, and ink.
Though largely self-taught since 2005, I have completed university-level courses in two-dimensional design and art history, where I more formally learned general techniques and concepts. I primarily work with acrylic paint and oil pastels, but also enjoy watercolors and am constantly striving to learn new methods.
