My name is Kayley and I have always enjoyed sharing my love of learning with children! I graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma over 500 hours of advanced field experience in a variety of schools and levels of development.
I specialize in early literacy skills for readers of all levels. I spent an entire Spring doing hands-on research on the benefits of Leveled Literacy in the classroom by creating specialized groups, lessons and strategies for children of all levels of learning. A large part of my research was spent working with students one on one and developing individualized learning plans that meet their specific needs.
My goal for each lesson is to ensure the child's love for learning is growing and their reading skills are improving. I will monitor progression and provide challenges when needed but also recognize struggles and zone in on lasting improvement. All the while, we will be having fun learning together!
My rate is $38 per hour. I am flexible but typically, I am available Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. I can come to you or your child is welcome in my home for lessons! Contact me with your specific needs and I would love to work out a set schedule with you!
I am highly experienced with readers of all levels. I will create an individualized plan for your child to ensure that their specific needs are met and their reading skills are on track for lasting progression. Specifically, I have worked with children to improve skills in word recognition (site words), phonics, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and text comprehension.
The goal of Common Core is to ensure specific goals are being met by not limiting the the student to certain strategies, materials, or ways of learning. Every child learns differently and Common Core helps the child learn in a way that is best for them as an individual. I spent my entire college and teaching career creating lesson plans that meet Common Core standards. Samples can be provided upon request!
Spelling has always been a personal love of mine! In today's world, technology does the spelling and grammar work for us. I think it is so important for children to develop those fundamental skills early on in life before technology takes over. Spelling enhances a readers ability to comprehend text and helps to grow their vocabulary so they can become bright and creative thinkers and writers.
Early childhood is a magical time to be a part of a child's growth as a learner. I would love to help your child be the best reader, writer and thinker they can be. I have a deep love for children and teaching. I hope to be a beneficial part of your child's journey! My name is Kayley and I have always enjoyed sharing my love of learning with children! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
