Tutoring and teaching students any skill, concept, or ideology can be both academically and personally rewarding to the tutor, student, and the student(s)' loved ones. Helping students reach their academic and personal goals take dedication, experience, and a personal touch that lets students know that they are valued and can succeed no matter the circumstances.
My dedication as a tutor, mentor, teacher, and basketball coach are embedded within the skills of me being dynamic, highly organized, and knowledgeable in all things I am involved. But my dedication to find ways to succeed and continue to persevere have become infectious and contagious; moreover, I have internalized my dedication to advise students that no matter what obstacles or adversity may stand in their way, if they stay dedicated and focused on their goals, they can become successful. Although dedication alone has helped me persevere through many challenges, experience has furthered my qualifications as a tutor, teacher, mentor and coach.
There is nothing in this world that can substitute experience. Even when dealing with adversity, the best teacher is experience. I have taught in both an elementary school setting via Teach for America, and a middle school setting via my student teaching practicum. Being a college graduate and currently enrolled in the Master's program to receive a degree in Secondary English, I have completed four straight semesters of receiving straight A's and have been recognized for exemplary writing skills. On the basketball front, I have coached girls basketball since 2004 and have won 20 or 30 championship games, one of which was the YBOA National Championship in 2006. Many of the students/athletes I have taught and coached have moved on to successful college careers. But I have exceptional writing knowledge, skills, and understanding; moreover, I have tremendous tutoring experience and have helped students increase their academic and personal outcomes. There obviously is not substitute for experience but when coupled with providing students with a personal touch, it makes it that much more connective, engaging, and rewarding.
In order to get the attention of any student(s), whether it be in a classroom setting, one-one-one setting, or on the basketball court, adding a personal touch can add a sense of connectivity, engagement, and value between the the teacher/tutor/coach and the student(s). I have had success with connecting with students of all diversities, backgrounds, and socio-economic status. Incorporating their favorite interests into lessons makes the activities engaging and fun, which students love. When students are engaged in a lesson or activity, their motivation, effort, and overall results tend to increase, which has an overall rewarding effect on their academic goals and objectives.
Overall, my goal is to bring a sense of determination to let students know that no matter the circumstances, they can achieve their goals. Next, by having the necessary experience with tutoring, teaching, and coaching, I am able to help students navigate through challenging academic and personal scenarios to help increase their self-efficacy so that they may internalize their abilities to reach the highest levels of success. Finally, by adding a personal touch to any lesson or activity, students are more engaged; more engagement by students means higher motivation and effort to reach their academic and personal goals, which becomes extremely rewarding. Opportunities to become a mentor, tutor, teacher, and a coach should be taken very seriously. By adding me to the WyzAnt family, you will be guaranteed to have one of the best "individuals", who cares not only about their desired needs expressed here, but about their overall success in life.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor in the sport of basketball because I have playing and coaching experience, have had a high level of success, want to help kids build and develop their skill levels, and teach them how putting forth effort in sports can translate to academics and other real world situations.
I played basketball in high school and in junior college. I have studied the game and have been coaching since 2004. I have won 20 out of 30 championship games I have coached, one of them being the girls 14 and under 2006 YBOA National Championship. I have privately tutored/trained players to help develop their skills so they could become more successful; for them and for my teams, I devise a regiment to facilitate their skill development. Lastly, I try and connect the lessons from the sport of basketball to the real world events and situations they will encounter as to hopefully help them navigate those situations with success.
I have received high accolades for all of my writing works, including essays, short stories, and poetry. All of the works I have written have received grades of 95% or better. I have helped many people improve their grammar and writing conventions, whether it was for school, work, or personal endeavors.
I am very proficient with English skills and have demonstrated this proficiency during my tenure in graduate school, maintaining and earning a 4.0 grade point average. I have helped other colleagues proofread and write their English papers by helping them organize their flow and modifying their content to reduce punctuation and grammatical errors.
The skills and approach I bring is a culturally relevant, straight forward approach where the time spent and strategies used are personalized and tailored to your daughter's learning needs, abilities, and interests.
During my two year tenure teaching elementary students, my class had the highest CRCT scores of all the 2nd grade classes. Compared to the other Teach for America teachers who taught this grade level, my students had the highest gains throughout the school year.
I have consistently received high accolades for all of my teaching endeavors from other colleagues, parents, and principals for the amazing way I have been able to build rapport, motivate, and influence students' success with my (CRAS) philosophy of teaching. Culturally Relevant Adaptable and Straightforward is the philosophy in which I have successfully been able to reach students on more than just an academic level, so they become not only great students but great people as they get older.
