From children’s literature to Harvard classics, I love books. As an English undergraduate student at UWG, I excelled in all core classes including Composition 1101 and 1102, surveys in American, British, Women’s, and African American Literature, as well as Research and Methodology. I also succeeded in classes on Early American Literature, depictions of early America in film, Eudora Welty, Modern Irish Literature, Post-Colonial Literature, creative writing, and poetry. For my senior paper, I analyzed Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. In addition to my studies in English, I completed four semesters of beginner Spanish. I presented “Juan Bobo, a Puerto Rican Folktale: Colonial Impressions on Children’s Literature” at UWG’s Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures 3rd Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium 2015 and “The Pursuit of Knowledge: Victor Frankenstein’s Unnatural Affair” at UWG’s College of Arts and Humanities Undergraduate Conference 2012. I graduated with an institutional GPA of 3.65.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students.
