My experience with this tutor has been more than I had a right to expect. He tutored my son during the summer and the results have been amazing. My son is scheduled for AP Calculus at the start of the school year and his grasp of pre-calculus was not at a level that I felt comfortable. After many sessions with Ayanaw H., my son is able to not only grasp the material he also understands the concepts of Calculus. After every lesson he got in the car excited about what he learned and how he could apply it. My daughter is home from her first year away from college and I overheard them arguing about the best way to complete a particular calculus problem. It is one thing to get a tutor to help with a particular problem it is on a whole new level to get one that can get your child excited about learning and can get them to understand the concepts behind the math. I am sure there are other tutors available in the Colorado Springs area, but if you need the best, look no further.

Mr. Ayanaw worked with my son to complete an algebra math project. He helped my son to work through each problem on the game board and to gain more knowledge/ understanding as each problem became more complex.

Mr. Ayanaw is very knowledge and wants to see the students he works with become more successful. My son did a great job on his project!

My daughter started her tutoring session with dread. She has been struggling for a long time with all aspects of math. By the end of the session, she had a smile on her face and the realization that she can actually do this. She's actually looking forward to her next tutoring session!

I am a sixth grade math teacher and my husband is in the army. When we got orders to relocate to New Jersey, I was nervous because in order to continue teaching math in New Jersey I had to pass the Praxis 2 in Secondary Mathematics Content. This is a teaching certified exam in order to obtain licensure in the content desired. I didn't know what to do because it had been so long since I have worked on upper level Mathematics. I ended up passing my exam with flying colors. Ayanaw helped me in all areas of Mathematics, including Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, and Calculus. He was very affordable and made the content seem easy while patiently explaining it to me. He was well adjusted when I threw many different Mathematics topics his way. I highly recommend Ayanaw as a tutor due to his calm demeanor and diverse knowledge in Mathematics.

Ayanaw is teaching me how to understand calculus in his own unique way. He makes sure I understand before going on to the next step. By the end of the school quarter I hope to accomplish the concept of calculus. I would recommend Ayanaw to anyone that needs help with math.

My son Bradley has really liked Ayanaw. He said that Ayanaw explains the math problems for him. If Bradley does not understand, Ayanaw breaks it down visually and if there is still confusion, will adapt his teaching to teach the problem with another learning style. Bradley has very much enjoyed his sessions with Ayanaw. Ayanaw is reliable and conducts thorough follow up with me on their sessions.

My sophomore was struggling with Algebra II at an Academy School District 20 high school. The high school she attends uses an online curriculum that is a confusing instructional tool. She was doing all her homework but still scoring poorly on tests. Ayanaw was able to jump right in and help her! He was very comfortable using the online system. He added in additional instruction where the online system is weak! She has finals next week. Ayanaw is helping her with the review packet. He is filling in the many instructional holes created by the school deciding to use this poorly designed online instructional system. My daughter has a much stronger grasp of the subject! Ayanaw is very patient and I was so impressed how quickly he brought back my daughters confidence! Thank you Ayanaw!

Ayanaw is currently teaching my daughter algebra 1, my daughter and I admire him. He is very patient and very knowledgeable, ,, we are lucky to have him as a tutor.

Was very good at explaining a subject that I did not understand before. Look forward to future lessons with him.

Very knowledgeable tutor who simplifies the topic of Calculus. He breaks things down so that they are easier to grasp. Creates a lesson schedule to fit the student's needs and is very accommodating.

He's great! He helps you if you are shaky on the subject, and adjusts to your accommodate your level. Also, he gives tips that really help out on future assignments!

Ayanaw has helped my son who is in a high school AP Calculus class. He does an excellent job simplifying difficult concepts. We highly recommend Ayanaw.

We are so happy with Ayanaw. He is keeping my 8th grade son and his friend on track. The boys love tutoring together and look forward to their sessions. I feel so lucky to have found Ayanaw. I recommend him highly.

My son had his first tutoring session with Ayanaw, and we were both blown away by his knowledge, patience, and ability to explain not just the answers but why the answers are what they are. We feel so incredibly fortunate to have Ayanaw as my son's precalculus tutor.

My son really enjoys Ayanaw's class. He explains very well and simple. This is the second summer my son went to Ayanaw's class on Pre-Algebra and Algebra I.

Calc 2 is the hardest math class ever. I didn't understand the materials at first, but after I got help from Ayanaw, I felt confident. He is a great tutor.

We went over Praxis 5018. Ayanaw was very flexible with his schedule. I was able to expand my algebra knowledge.

Let's face it, teenagers do not want to study for the ACT and few have the discipline to do it alone. With Ayanaw's help, my son learned more in three weeks of tutoring than he had in the two months prior when he was supposed to be studying on his own. Ayanaw is very knowledgeable and patient but really challenged my son with a fast pace. The pace was necessary because my son, a junior, took algebra and geometry and is in honors calculus now. He somehow skipped trigonometry, so he had to learn as much as he could in three weeks. I'm 100% confident that the three-weeks of lessons increased his math score at least two or three points.

My son did not want a tutor, but he just took the ACT today, and he completed all 60 questions in 60 minutes. He was calm and decisive, and Ayanaw was instrumental in that.

He helped me with my schoolwork on statistics. He explained everything very thoroughly and went step by step on each question I had a problem with. I learned stuff that I didn't even know before. This guy is great and reasonable and is willing to give discounts for those who need it. I totally recommend this guy if anyone help learning.

I am currently a college student, and I had not taken a calculus course since high school. Because it had been awhile since I had any kind of exposure to math, I began working with Ayanaw. For the past month, Ayanaw helped me grasp and understand complex concepts by clearly explaining the method and approach in a succinct and straightforward manner. Ayanaw has a holistic approach to teaching, as he helps the student delve deeper into the problem by helping them understand the idea and reasoning behind a particular concept. He genuinely cares about the student's understanding of the material, and even made time to explain a problem by phone or email when we were not in a formal tutoring session. He is a passionate and knowledgeable tutor who is truly an expert in the field of mathematics. I highly recommend Ayanaw! He is definitely one of the best math tutors I have ever worked with.

We appreciate the consistent schedule each week, and the efforts. Logan is feeling more comfortable each time with the material.

Ayanaw was a wonderful tutor. I was tutored for the Praxis ii math content test and his knowledge of ALL things math was enormously impressive. He was amazing at explaining even the most obscure and remote concepts and would explain as many times or in as many different ways as I needed to be able to understand.

He is very prompt and always available via text if I needed extra help or if I wanted to focus our next lesson on a certain concept. When I was uncertain which direction to take, he was great at tackling different concepts quickly but still thoroughly. I was extremely impressed with Ayanaw and I improved my test score greatly. If I need any tutoring in the future, I will call Ayanaw. Fantastic tutor!!

My son recently received three lessons from Ayanaw in preparation for his pre-calculus final his junior year of high school. Following his third lesson, my son and I practiced each question in his study guide; his knowledge of the material was vastly improved. My son enjoyed the lessons with Ayanaw and the lessons renewed his excitement for learning new calculus concepts. We are looking forward to a great score on his final this week!

My son needed help with his college math class as he was potentially on track to fail the class. He didn't have any confidence in himself. I am pleased to say that with only two sessions with Ayanaw, he felt more confident and understood the material better. He passed the class. Thank you Ayanaw.

Ayanaw is the best. He is very helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. He will help you learn and practice as well as make sure you understand the topic. He also knows various topics. He is very patient as he will let you work on the problems and help you if you don't understand it. He is also very easy to reach and set up appointments that will fit in your schedule.

Ayanaw is an effective tutor. We had enrolled our son, a junior in high school, into a well known math tutoring service in town. He worked with them for months, at least two to three times a week, without any significant results. He met with Ayanaw twice, and we immediately saw results. Ayanaw spent his own time creating a study guide for our son so that he could refer to it whenever he needed. I would highly recommend Ayanaw.

Ayanaw has been tutoring my granddaughter. We are both extremely excited about her progress. She really likes Ayanaw and his ability to help her understand and surpass the problems she has been having. I would not at all hesitate to use him again, if needed, and highly recommend him to anyone.

Ayanaw is a wonderful tutor to my freshman daughter for Geometry. He has a very patient personality and explains things in a clear and easy to understand way according to my daughter. Her grade in geometry has improved significantly. I highly recommend Ayanaw to any parent who is considering a math tutor for their child!

Our session was great! Ayanaw made it so easy to understand something that was so confusing to me before! Very very helpful!

I had been studying for the GRE on my own for a few months when I found Ayanaw on the WyzAnt website. I had not studied math since high school and was feeling very rusty and overwhelmed by the math on the GRE. Although the math concepts were not particularly difficult, the way they were presented and the time constraint was resulting in my scoring very low on my math practice sections. In fact, in the last full-length practice test I took before beginning working with Ayanaw, I scored in the 40th percentile in math! I was very displeased with this result and nervous about the test.

I met with Ayanaw about seven times in the month before taking the GRE. He was patient, kind, and a good listener. I would come to our tutoring sessions with a clear idea of what I wanted to cover that day, and we would work together to tackle that concept. He would bring materials of his own and we would work through them together. Other times, I would do a practice section for homework and we would then meet to review it. He would always have prepared by reviewing the practice section on his own time before meeting me, so that he was familiar with the problems that I had been working on. Other times we would do timed practice sections together, pausing for clarification if needed, and reviewing them together at the end. Thus, our tutoring sessions took a few different forms as I prepared to take the GRE, but his presence, patience, and encouragement remained constant. As I prepared to take the GRE, he was enthusiastic and encouraging until the very last day.

I took the GRE last week and vastly improved my scores. My math score improved from the 40th percentile to the 75th percentile! That is a HUGE improvement and I am absolutely thrilled! I can say with complete confidence that I would not have been able to do it without Ayanaw! He helped me so much throughout this process, and we even had a fun time! More than anything else, it was immensely helpful to have what felt like an ally in this process. When working with Ayanaw, I no longer felt like I was going through the GRE process alone, but rather that I had a comrade and support system. I would highly recommend Ayanaw for anyone studying for the GRE, or for any math class or exam. He is patient, kind, and makes math fun! Thank you, Ayanaw!!!

Mr. Ayanaw is actually really patient. He helped me in AP Statistics for the first semester, and I have to say, I could have not passed that class without his help.

Ayanaw met with me a couple times over the past week to help me with my AP Statistics course. He was always so patient with me while I tried to understand the concepts. He did many review problems with me and helped me out immensely. I highly suggest Ayanaw for your Statistics tutoring!

Ayanaw is an excellent tutor. He has tremendous knowledge in several areas of math. He can teach from basic to advanced mathematics. If you desire a tutor who can break down complex math problems into small pieces so you can learn them individually, contact Ayanaw.

I highly recommend Ayanaw for Algebra II tutoring. He broke down the math in a way that my son was able to understand and retain. Without Ayanaw my son would not have been as successful as he was in his D20 Algebra II class. My son really liked Ayanaw and looked forward to the tutoring as he knew Ayanaw would bridge the gap between his D20 teacher and actually understanding the math. We'll look to Ayanaw for help any further math tutoring.

When we hired Ayanaw to tutor our son in Calculus, our son was failing in this subject and sadly discouraged because his previous instructor was inadequately equipped to teach Calculus. However, thanks to Ayanaw’s tutoring skills in this subject, he helped our son successfully complete his college level Calculus class with a B. Most importantly, our son has the confidence to tackle future math and science classes, and is inspired to continue pursuing an engineering degree.

We undoubtedly recommend Ayanaw for mathematical tutoring, in fact, we will be continuing with him in the future. We thank Ayanaw for his insight, willingness to teach, and his dedication.

Ayanaw is prepping my student with good repetition for the coming school year, looks like he's getting the material, Ayanaw does a great job.

Very dedicated and brilliant! Thank you for helping my daughter prepare for her finals. A junior in high school - my daughter never liked Calculus and with Ayanaw's guidance - she has built her confidence working with more challenging math problems. We are glad we found you - we will definitely use you for AP Calculus on senior year.

Seems that we will be ending the school year with an A or at worst a B in Algebra 1, thank you Ayanaw! Ayanaw is doing a wonderful job with our daughter. She is bubbly and happy again, just feeling that she can learn the material was the first step. She is very focused during the tutoring and really enjoys her time with Ayanaw. He is patient and keeps her on track while taking aim at her foundational weaknesses.

The only reason that today's (12/14/2012) session received a 4 instead of a 5 is that the background noise (a choir singing Christmas songs) was pretty loud and distracting. Ayanaw was his clear, patient, knowledgeable self ie. very very good. There are some sessions without ratings and that is totally my fault. I just didn't get around to filling out the evaluation in time. Ayanaw is a great tutor, my daughter is always happy to head off to tutoring. She says Ayanaw can explain math to her so she understands it, and that is what its all about, isn't it?

I have only had 2 sessions with Ayanaw. I'm in my second semester of AP Calc and wanted some last minute help for a test. Ayanaw made time for me on short notice. He made sure he was able to help me complete every test prep problem. I feel really good about how the test went!

Ayanaw was very professional, knowledgeable and patient. He was very flexible when it came to working around my schedule and on extremely short notice. I would highly recommend him.

Ayanaw did an excellent job today for my son. He ensured my son UNDERSTOOD why he was doing what he was doing. He emphasized understanding the concepts to make the day to day grind of learning easier. He was patient and explained things in a manner that my son understood. My son told me, it was great to understand what was being taught. He learned more today in just over an hour than he learned in the first 3 weeks from his high school teacher. Would I recommend him? ABSOLUTELY!!

Update: This tutor worked with my son for 5 days straight. My son understood more in these 5 days than his Physics teacher taught him all semester.

Ayanaw is a great choice for a math tutor. He comes to each lesson prepared to help my son succeed in his math endeavors. He is very thorough in his approach and carefully analyzes how my son goes about solving the problem. Most importantly, my son walks away with a better understanding. Another important thing is my son respects his knowledge of mathematics and finds him comfortable to work with.

I am very pleased with my experience with Ayanaw so far. He is very patient and persistent with me, and thorough with his work. I appreciate how he takes extra time before a lesson to prepare the materials I need to go over. He makes himself accessible by phone any time I need extra help. My improving test scores really show how well he has done tutoring me. I highly recommend Ayanaw!

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT math covers a lot of concepts. At my first tutoring session, I use authentic test materials to diagnose a student's current level, customize my curriculum based on the student's strengths and weaknesses and then take more time to practice the weakest area.

I took the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) and I have been mentoring and assisting numerous students in preparing for standard tests including AFOQT and Naval Officer qualifying test which is the Aviation Selection Test Batteries (ASTB). The AFOQT is a standardized test, similar to the SAT or any other standardized test. The main difference from other tests is that the AFOQT has many additional sections beyond Verbal and Quantitative. My experience tutoring AFOQT, ASTB, ASVAB, SAT, and ACT enable me to tutor the AFOQT successfully.

My strategies for all standard tests: Familiarize yourself with the test structure and contents, use the right or current study guides, take a short practice test, study each content individually, take a short practice test again, identify your weakest areas in order to give more attention and study more for those areas, and then, last not least, practice, practice, and practice.

Algebra is frequently called the gatekeeper subject. I always have a privilege to tutor/teach some critical courses like Algebra I. It is the foundation of math such as real number system, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division using fractional notation and decimal notation, ratio and proportion, percent notation, dimensional analysis, number systems other than base 10, order of operations, exponents, set operations, venn diagrams, logic; truth tables, conditionals and Bi-conditionals and most important linear function.

Algebra II and college algebra have similar curricula. I have been tutoring and teaching Algebra II/college Algebra for the last 11 years, and also taught some home-study high school students utilizing research-based techniques for more personalized approaches to understanding Algebra I & II.

Some Algebra II curricula overlap with Algebra I such as equation/inequalities, linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic, inverse function, rational expression, complex number, and matrices.

Single Variable (Calculus I and II): Limits, limit theorems, L'Hopital's Rule, Continuity; intermediate value theorem, Derivatives, chain rule, implicit differentiation, Applications of Derivatives; Analysis of Graphs, mean value theorem, max/min, Related rates, Integrals, Integration techniques; polynomials, exponential and logs, trigonometric, substitution, trig substitution, parts, partial fractions, Applications of Integrals, length of curves, work, volume, surface area - Parametric equations, Polar coordinates, Sequences and Series, Convergence test, Power series, and Taylor series.

Multivariable Calculus (Calculus III): Vectors, dot product, cross product, lines, planes, Vector-Valued Functions, limits, derivatives, curves, tangents, curvature, Partial Derivatives, chain rule, directional derivatives, gradient, Lagrange multipliers, Multiple Integrals, surface area, polar & cylindrical coordinates, moments and center of gravity, Vector Calculus, vector fields, line integrals, Green's theorem, surface integrals, Stokes Theorem, and Divergence Theorem.

I have taken two Differential Equations courses and one Applied Mathematics using Differential Equation to earn my Applied Mathematics Degree. Since then, I have been tutoring some students. It is very critical to learn the concepts of Differential Equation and know how to use it and when to use it. Many laws leading natural phenomena are equations involving rates at which derivatives. Basically, Equations containing derivatives are differential equations.

I have a lot of experiences preparing students for the GED test. I will always start from the basic math as an assessment and then focus on each individual weakest (blind spot). My approach is tailored to each individual math level. I had some students who open the GED book with me in the first time, and I had some other students almost ready to take the exam. Regardless of your current math level, you will be well prepared to take the exam with some tutoring sessions.

GED is separated into four major categories: data, statistics, and probability; algebra, functions, and patterns; number sense and operations; and measurement and geometry. I usually cover each category and have some practices to master each area and then take mix practice at the end.

I took multiple Linear Algebra courses to earn my Applied Mathematics degree. Linear Algebra was one of my specialties while studying. Since then, I have been tutoring undergraduate and graduate level Linear algebra courses. Linear algebra is very rich subject and central to both pure and applied mathematics, concerning vector spaces, often finite or infinite dimensional, as well as Linear Mappings between such spaces.

I passed the Mathematics Content Knowledge Praxis II exam with target score for ETS Recognition of Excellence. Since then, I prepared five students; all of them passed with good grade. Currently, I am tutoring and teaching all of the Praxis related concepts daily. The main contents of Praxis II are Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics/probability, Matrices, Discrete, and Calculus. It is my favorite subject and enjoy meeting, preparing, and speaking math languages with the future Mathematics teachers, and most important bring more math teachers to the school system.

Algebra, College Algebra, or Pre-calculus: Linear equations, Absolute value, Inequalities, Nonlinear Functions, Function notation, Polynomials, Translations, Shifting, reflecting graphs, Composition, Inverse functions - Roots of polynomials, Quadratic equation, Factoring, Complete square, Quadratic formula, Complex Numbers, Higher Degree, Factoring special cases, Exponentials and Logarithmic function and Graphs, 2 equations 2 unknowns, Matrix algebra, Gaussian elimination, Inverses, Mathematics of finance, Simple/compound interest, Linear programming, and Geometric approach.

Statistics or probability: Descriptive Statistics, Data Analysis, Graphic Representations, Measures of Central Tendency, Dispersion, Position, Regression and Correlation, Probability, Random Variables, Probability Distributions for Discrete and Continuous Random Variables, Inferential Statistics, Sampling and Sampling Distributions, Central Limit Theorem, Confidence Intervals, Hypothesis Testing, Inference Concerning Correlation and Regression, Analysis of Variance, Categorical Data Analysis, Chi-square, Contingency Tables, Homogeneity tests, Decision Theory, Process, and Quality Control (Control Charts)

I have been teaching Trigonometry as Pre-calculus requirement in Prep School for the last two years. Trigonometry is my favorite subject of all, because it is a branch of mathematics that studies only triangles and the relationships between the lengths of their sides and the angles between those sides.
