Hi! My name is Tonya, and I am passionate about basketball and conditioning. I have been involved with basketball for over 30 years. Starting with my high school career, I was a 4 year starter on the women's basketball team at Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia, where I received awards and recognitions including MVP, All Tournament All State team, and Atlanta Tip Off Club Team of the Year. I was recruited to play at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. From that point forward, I have played for several semi-professional and exhibition teams including the Atlanta Battlecats, the Memphis Trapstars, and Athletes in Action. I also have had several tryouts with the WNBA, including the Orlando Miracle. I have been training local youth with basketball and conditioning off and on for nine years.
I have a true love for the sport and helping others reach their potential. My desire is to develop players with a purpose. My philosophy is to focus on and build basketball fundamentals that will serve as a foundation to my students natural skill and ability. My past experiences help to serve as a guide to lead my students to form future experiences all their own.
I have been married for 27 years to my husband, Victor, I am the proud mother of four children, Tai, Ariel, Victor and Brooke, and a grandmother of four wonderful grandchildren. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over 30 years of personal basketball experience and 9 years of basketball coaching and training for boys and girls. I focus on the fundamentals to help enhance my players' natural abilities.
