I have been teaching for 17 years, specializing in remediation in reading and writing, and in test taking skills. I am a specialist in differentiating instruction to achieve student goals making learning as interesting as possible. My teaching philosophy is if a student is bored he will not achieve success. Therefore, I tailor instruction using the students' interests as a guide. I have had had a 98% success rate on students passing the state test in reading and writing for the last 15 years, and 11 of those years were with students who fell in the lowest quartile of the school. Teaching is my passion! I lovel to hear my students declare how easy everything is for them after learning the skills that I teach them.
I have developed and implemented successful reading and writing programs for low achieving students in two school systems, one in Dade County Florida and one in Coweta County. My highlighting method for writing is unique and helpful for any student to improve writing. I was the reading teacher of the year for the entire state of Florida in 2008. I also specialize in teaching students with English as a second language how to read and write like a native within a year.
I am a native Spanish speaker, and I have been teaching Spanish to children and adults since College. I specialize in teaching conversational Spanish to be able to communicate on a basic level within 6 months. Much experience with teaching adults Spanish needed for business purposes.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
