About Brian

Yep, that was me! I was the kid who sat in the back of the classroom balancing half-cell reactions in the margins of the Sports Illustrated magazine you'd always find me reading. Over twenty years later, I am a successful auteur of the math and chemistry world. Trained in the art of synthetic organic chemistry, I tackle all students needs from the entry level to the graduate level, ensuring that my students understand the importance of learning through understanding, and not simply for recall. I specialize in chemistry (high school, AP, and collegiate) and organic chemistry, but am also proficient in its cognate subjects: namely math and physics.

Why tutor? With over 15 years of educating students at the collegiate level under my belt, I find that tutoring affords me the opportunity to gauge the skill set of incoming college freshman in a way that no other activity can. My expertise as a college professor affords to each student a unique opportunity for advancement for I can not only engage students in the types of activities that lead to success at their current level but do so using activities that are directly relevant to those types of skills and knowledge required for success at the collegiate level.

Since most students at the high school level (and below) study primarily at home, I prefer to work with them there. In this way, challenges to their focus (read: distractions) can be isolated and minimized to ensure that the learning experience is best tailored to each individual student's needs. If this presents a challenge, I find that the public libraries are a great resource for both individual meetings and/or small group sessions (thus putting our tax dollars to work!).

Of course, no lesson will be billed unless the student (or parent) is satisfied with the level of service they receive. While there is a no-fee 24-hr cancellation policy on weekdays, I will make every effort to offer make-up sessions for those missed.

Please contact me at your convenience if and when your ready to take steps towards a more successful academic career!

Approved subjects

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
