About Brent

My tennis career started in in southwest GA. And to me, tennis was everything.

During my junior year, I was able to compete and qualify in many of the top echelon Jr. USTA tournaments such as the Copper Bowl, Super National Clay Courts and Kalamazoo. Eventually, I was able to crack the top 100 in the nation in singles and 25 in doubles.

I went on to play collegiate tennis at the multiple national championship winning school ABAC. My freshman year ABAC was able to come away with 3rd place at nationals. Transferring from ABAC my junior year I attended Georgia SouthWestern St University. Throughout mu 2 years at GSW he competed at the #1 singles and doubles position within the toughest NCAA division 11 conference in the nation (the Peach belt). During this time at GSW he met my life who also played #1 singles and doubles on the women's team.

From the minute I picked up a racket at age 10 he developed a passion for learning anything and everything about tennis. At age 15 he got the opportunity to share my passion when he became the assistant Pro at Double gate Country Club in Albany, GA. Double Gate was a huge learning experience and stepping stone for him, it was at this point that I realized that college tennis wasn’t the endgame; he wanted to make tennis my career.

College summers were spent with Adidas Tennis Camps in Mahwah, New Jersey. My first summer with Adidas he started out as a teaching pro and by the second summer he was made assistant director. Not long after, Adidas had hand-picked him to fly to the country of St. Lucia in the Caribbean to help teach underprivileged youth. After graduating from GSW Head Coach Brennen Sewell offered the Assistant men's and women's coaching position. My coach was very instrumental in my development as a player and a coach. And I 3 great seasons went by at GSW.

Overall, I have the following qualifications: over 25 years of tennis career; I placed in a Nationally ranked tennis players competition under the age of eighteen; I was number one in singles on a NCAA Division two Collegiate team; my experiences have provided unique insight and expertise in managing the pathways of the elite junior player.

I am a strong advocate to the social benefits that sports and athletics promote in the development of our youth. With so few options allowing juniors a healthy environment to develop essential life skills, Billy understands that tennis is much more than a game, rather a way of life for those pursuing excellence.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Tennis

Started in the rural town of Leesburg in southwest GA. Tennis was everything but popular. No academies to be found within a 3 hour drive. Curt was Brent’s trainer/coach/father for the duration of his son’s junior career which started at age 10. Needless to say it’s always very eventful when a parent is trying to teach their child anything much less a difficult sport; especially when the father is trying to learn the sport at the same time. During his junior career Brent was able to compete and qualify in many of the top echelon Jr. USTA tournaments such as the Copper Bowl, Super National Clay Courts and Kalamazoo. During this time at GSW he met his Wife Leady who also played #1 singles and doubles on the women’s team.
