Hello! My name is Lawrence G. I graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Since graduating, I have been gaining experience working in multiple Optometry clinic settings. Patient interaction and customer service are very important in a clinic; as well as in a tutoring environment. I have tutored in Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, and Basic Math. My favorite subjects would definitely be between Geometry and Algebra 1, because most of the time there is an alternate method that you can use to discover the right steps to a problem even if the first way doesn't work. I believe that patience and flexibility are important when teaching a student so they can take the time to fully grasp a concept and not just write the answer down. Understanding the basics is a fundamental part of any type of math and I want my students to appreciate that.
For fun, I can usually be found listening to music, drawing, playing video games, tennis, and camping just about anywhere outside.
I believe in breaking material down for students to understand the material better. Math becomes much easier in step-by-step methods using basic fundamentals. Also patience is very important to tutoring in general so students don't feel like they're being rushed to find an answer.
For chemistry, the processes for one subject matter can be used as a basis for other subject areas. Since these ideas build on one another, it becomes possible to apply information about atoms and molecules to more difficult subjects like electrostatics and magnetism. Showing students how these relationships occur is my goal when tutoring high-school chemistry.
Learning math and science can be enjoyable with a little backtracking and hard work. Let's work together to get that grade up so you can be proud of the work you put in!
