I am a wife, a mother of three and a math tutor. I love all of these parts of my life and find joy in helping others. I always try to bring a positive attitude to the sessions. I've been thrilled to see the students I've worked with succeed in their math class, make high scores on SAT's or receive a grade they have been striving for. It's been a privilege to work with so many wonderful students.

I keep my hourly rate low to assist the parents with getting help for their child, I am willing to lower it even more if the cost is going to be a financial strain. If you are a parent, I want you to know I understand that you are willing to make a commitment to help your child improve their understanding of necessary skills. I believe your efforts show them how important you believe their education truly is. I will work with you and with the teacher to be a reliable source of help. I will be flexible in the days we meet, the time we meet and with any factor that makes our sessions fit into your schedule. You and your child will be able to reach me when a question comes up.

MY BACKGROUND:

I've tutored for 30 years. I graduated magna cum laude from Georgia State University and received a degree in Actuarial Science.
I've substituted for math teachers at our local middle school and I've taught math to groups of homeschool students. I have volunteered as a math tutor at our local middle school for two years and at the local high school for one year. I've also volunteered at the United Methodist Children's Home. I have been fortunate in that I have tutored students in elementary, middle and high school grades as well as college students in their 20’s, 30's and 40’s. I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized tests such as the SAT,ACT, ASVAB and GED.

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

I tutor in my home and the parents have the choice of waiting in our den (while reading or watching TV), waiting in their cars or running errands during the sessions.

THE FIRST SESSION:

The first session can vary depending on the situation that the student is in. If your son or daughter has a quiz or test very soon, I will find a way to meet with you immediately. We will discuss the areas of math where there are obvious strengths and the areas that are troublesome. There is no charge for the time spent before the tutoring begins. I have found repeatedly that it helps put us all at ease to sit together and talk about goals.

I will correspond with the teacher (with your permission) to stay current with all dates of upcoming assessments and to ask the teacher's opinion of any noticeable problems in the class. I will ask how much your child is participating in class, if there are distractions from the other students, and if the teacher has some suggestions that can be tried.
I will also provide information about additional online help, apps and printed material to reinforce topics.

LENGTH OF THE SESSIONS:

For any session, if the tutoring time lasts 10 or 15 minutes over an hour, you are only charged for an hour. Naturally more benefit is achieved if we can meet twice a week but we can certainly just meet once weekly if that's what works best for you.
AVAILABILITY:

I am generally available all days of the week. I welcome any texts or calls from the student. The student will have my email address and phone number so they can ask me questions. It's great to get texts from the students letting me know right away how they felt about a test they just took or when they are happy about a grade they received.

I know that finding help for your son or daughter as soon as a problem arises is critical to keeping their grades up. I really work hard to have a quick response time to texts, emails and calls. I truly hope I can be of help to you. If I can't, I do hope you find the assistance you are looking for here at WyzAnt.
Sincerely, Tracey M

For 30 years, I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching high school students to improve their ACT scores, including the Math section. I use many resources including tailored note cards, practice tests, my own skills drills as well as written and verbal testing on the formulas. I use my experience as an actuary to analyze the results of the practice tests to pinpoint areas that need attention. It's an exciting role to serve as a coach because I know that outstanding ACT scores can be crucial to getting accepted into the student's preferred college.

ASVAB

As an experienced tutor to high school students, I have learned that coaching for the ASVAB requires that I have on hand resources that can be tailored to each student's needs. Through helping others prepare for this test, I have created note cards, drills on calculations by hand (because calculators are not used on this test), verbal and written formula practice and searched out online resources for quizzing. I monitor progress on practice tests and study the results to find where to focus our time leading up to the test. My work as a volunteer in the public schools has shown me the most common areas of difficulty and my experience with actuarial exams in my life has helped me develop and use testing strategies.

Great!

As an adult learner returning for my MSN, statistics was a required course. I did well the first 3 weeks, then hit a rough spot. I contacted Tracey and we spent a 2 hour session getting me back on track. I am proud to say I finished the course with an "A"! Thank you Tracey!

Great Tutor

We found Tracey M. at the very end of the school year. Needing a tutor badly and not knowing if it would help or not with the final grade we went ahead. We found her to be very understanding, helpful and patient. We recommend her highly . She is a great tutor. And it did help, he passed!
