University of Hawaii at Manoa (Mathematics)
Hello there! I'm 24 and have been tutoring since I was 16, in a wide variety of subjects, along with a diverse age range. Whether you're a college student looking for homework help or prep, or a concerned parent looking for a tutor who has endless patience and experience working with kids, look no further!
From high school throughout my years in college, I tutored students from ages 3 to college aged. I have worked as a private tutor in algebra and prealgebra in Hawaii, and also as a public tutor under Kumon and Intelleyou Learning while I lived there. I tutored mainly math, but also SAT/SSAT/ACT prep, along with various subjects like English, psychology, and geology, even some physical science! In addition, I also spent some time tutoring adult students in English and math to help continue their education. In Statesboro, I have tutored at least five GSU/EGSC students, mainly in prealgebra, college algebra, and trigonometry. I am very familiar with mathlab here in Georgia but am also accustomed to making my own study plans/homework assignments as needed for students. I am off Monday thru Thursday, so those are the days I'm available to tutor!
I would like to think I'm such an effective tutor because I have insight into the student's thinking---because I have also been tutored before, and probably asked some of the same questions! When I break down answers and explanations, I strive to leave all questions answered, no stones unturned so the students have clarity about their subject matter.
I majored in math in college and never got lower than a B. The highest math I got to was abstract math, so I've touched most computational math comfortably. I adore math until this day and plan to be a math teacher later on down the road.
Please, don't hesitate to message me for tutoring! I enjoy using all of the years worth of math in my head for something constructive: like students! Hello there! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
