Georgia Southern University (Psychology)
I am a sophomore Psychology major with a Management minor at Georgia Southern University. I enjoy helping others and have always liked teaching or helping people understand things they are struggling with. Because of my own experiences throughout my schooling, I understand that sometimes the way a teacher or professor teaches something can be difficult to understand and it just takes a different perspective to explain things in a way that is more understandable. The thing I love most about tutoring is seeing the look on someone's face when it all finally clicks and they really understand something they have been struggling with. It makes me feel accomplished to help another person out because I know how difficult it is to struggle with a subject.
I am a psychology major and have taken, and passed with high marks, college level Intro to Psychology. I was chosen to tutor psychology at my former school but due to transferring was unable to tutor there, but I am still just as qualified and excited to tutor my field of study!
I have taken Spanish for eight years. I started in sixth grade and took it through my first semester of college. I took International Baccalaureate, or IB, Spanish my junior and senior year of high school and was a part of the Spanish club all four years of high school.
Having a younger brother who is seven years my junior, I still have a lot of experience helping with homework at the elementary level, especially math. I am still engaged in helping with some of the concepts taught at this level and enjoy helping children gain a better understanding and a good foundation to build off of later on in their schooling. Without a good basic understanding, like that given in elementary school, it only leads to harder issues later on and I want to help clarify things in the early stage so as to prevent children from struggling so much later on with math.
I have years of experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word and PowerPoint. I have also taken college level courses on these specific topics along with a year of high school experience while taking Computer Applications.
I am really excited to help students learn and grow! Whether it is getting better grades because a student is struggling, wanting help to maintain understanding, or wanting a little something extra to help get ahead, I am happy to help any students that come to me and promise to do my absolute best to make sure I help them succeed! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
