I am a graduate student in counseling. I also have a bachelors degree in psychology with a minor in art. I have experience working with children ages 5 to 18, I also have experience tutoring adults. I have sustained an average 3.4 GPA through high school and college. In middle school and high school I took advanced classes.
Math was something that always came very naturally for me. I advanced through the math courses in high school with pre-calculus being the highest level. My favorite type of math is algebra and statistics is not far behind.
Young learners are a delight for me; they have so much ability to grow in knowledge. Preparing children for the CRCT may be very stressful on them. My goal for tutoring with me is to help them get rid of test anxiety by providing self-confidence in their ability to practice their knowledge.
My experience in fine art spans across many different mediums. I am also a very active in making crafts. With my college education including lesson planning based on the GA Performance Standards in Art Education I surely can help artists of all ages develop as a fine artist or as a skilled craftsman.
I am patient and willing to work with students until they understand. I will keep you motivated as we work through the material together. My goal is to teach students, so they can effectively learn even when I am not around and retain the material far beyond the test date.

Rate varies for subject
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I can help the student understand the basic principles of algebra in an easy manner, so you can apply it to solve the more difficult concepts later in the course.
When graphing is introduced to students, a new realm is entered into. Solving liner equations and quadratic equations bring many challenges. I can teach the student how solve equations through factoring, elimination, substitution, graphing, even using the quadratic formula. New material can seem daunting, but when practiced it becomes second nature. If you are required to remember the quadratic formula I have a trick for that!
Inequalities have some specific rules that can trip students up. My goal is for the student to prove their understanding of the rules of inequalities, and of all algebra, to the practical application in test taking.
In high school, I took basic and advanced cooking classes. I cook regularly. I enjoy trying new and unique recipes.
From my experience, the CRCT is designed to stretch the students reading ability, even in the math section. I can help the student become familiar with the language used in math problems, so they can determine the proper way to solve a math question. Many students already know how to do the math when specific directions are given, but get confused when presented in a different manner. I can also help students who are confused with using fractions learn the rules of using fractions in all types of math problems.
Do you understand the formulas, but have a hard time applying the math to the practical application of word problems? From my experience using word problems in geometry is a tricky way variables are first introduced to math students. Not only can I help the student understand the many formulas of Geometry, but I can help the student know how to use them in real life applications.
Algebra is a matter of learning the language and the rules. As a beginner you may feel completely confused with the introduction of letters into math, but I will show you just how simple it is.
Word problems are often used to introduce the practical application of algebra. The student can gain confidence in solving word problems by learning how to use the knowledge they already know about solving math to determine the proper type of math to solve any word problem.
I also have some shortcuts that may help the student translate word problems into numeric math equations.
With my education of a Bachelors of Science in Psychology I have learned a wide range of Psychology subjects. Courses I am proficient in: abnormal psychology, group dynamics, social psychology, development psychology, theories of personality, theories of counseling, research methods - including how to write a research paper, perform an original research experiment, and read research articles properly, human sexuality, intro psychology and advanced, learning and cognition (behavioral psychology), including an understanding of neuroscience.
