I love teaching. Particularly, I love teaching Math. It is very stimulating to watch my students finally get it! Each time I step into the classroom I am focused and excited about each student at the end, leaving feeling more accomplished. I Just recently retired from the Miami-Dade Public School System after 28 years of service as a Teacher of Mathematics. Learning is a lifelong process, and I eagerly anticipate being engaged in helping students progress toward their educational goals.
My formal education consists of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a Masters in Math Education. I had 15 years of leadership experience as an officer in the USAF and a Production Manager in private industry before I found my true calling as a teacher. I am expert at teaching all Math subjects through Middle and High school, excluding Calculus. This expertise includes ACT and SAT preparation. I am also an experienced in Adult Education teaching courses from GED prep through high school completion.
I expect to have great working relationships with students and parents. I will continually seek feedback during and after sessions to ensure all expectations are being met. I expect effective communication with students so that I can make adjustments in assignments and activities to enhance learning.
I have a flexible schedule in regards to appointments. I think it reasonable that a 24 hour notice be given by both parties in case of cancellation. I will make every effort to accommodate student schedules.
I am new to the area and do not presently have an office or designated venue for meetings, but I expect to in the near future. I am open to travel to homes or a mutually acceptable alternative. In the past, I have found public library locations to be ideal.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you toward achieving your goals.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
