Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught in elementary school- Kindergarten, 4th, and 5th grade. I have a Masters in Elementary Education K-6. In 4th and 5th grade I have taught all subject areas math, science, social studies, reading (familiar with readers workshop) spelling, writing (as a 5th grade teacher I had a 100% on Georgia Grade 5 Writing Assessment. I also taught Pre-School, where my students excelled in all areas and they were ready for Kindergarten.

In Kindergarten I have had a 100% passing rate and successful with having my students begin to read and write and become familiar with the phonics and master the kindergarten curriculum.

Phonics

I will help your child with Word Work, Fluency and Vocabulary. This will help your child read and spell common sight words. Your child will draw pictures and copy, shapes and letters use phonetically spelled words to write about experiences and tell stories.

By the end of kindergarten, I hope to have your child knowing vowel sounds, consonant blends and word families (-ed,-am,-it)

These are just a few things that I am confident that I can help your child master.

Study Skills

I believe that helping student to become well organized is the first step in working on your study skills.

The first thing I recommend is that each one my students (your child) should keep an agenda book to write down all the assignments that is given to them. I believe that a child should try not to do to much studying at one time. I have the students plan specific times and try and study at the same time each day. A student should work on their most difficult subject first, and it's nice to get a good study buddy. I always have my students review their notes before starting the assignment.

Finally review over the weekend, if we start with our children at a young age, or work at changing our old study habits we all will be better students.

Learning is a life long lesson.

Track & Field

As a Level One Certified track coach I have coached at the high school level for 4 years. I specialized in the horizontal jumps for boys and girls. I have had several athletes go on to win region and state. I have also coached athletes as young as 6 years old at that age it's all about keep it fun and learning technique.

I have help conduct a speed camp for the past two summers, elementary to high school students.
This a passion of mine, I participated in track and field since the age of 9. I was awarded a 4 year track and country scholarship to college. It would be my pleasure to work your child athlete.
