Skidmore College (English, Studio Art)
Middlebury College (Master's)
Hello and thank you for visiting my page! My name is Chelsea, I graduated from Skidmore College in 2008 with a double major in English Literature and Studio Art. After graduation, I moved to Spain for several years and taught English to both adults and children while expanding my painting portfolio and my capabilities in Spanish. I obtained an MA in Spanish Linguistics through Middlebury College at their Madrid campus. I also worked in graphic and textile design in New York for several years. I worked primarily in home fashion designing bedding, and am adept at Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Pointcarre, which I learned taking evening classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
I currently work as a substitute teacher in both private and public schools in the Savannah area. I am equally comfortable teaching children and adults, and love figuring out the best way to approach each subject and student. I am deeply committed to my own practice as an artist, and regularly paint, draw and create patterns. I also jump at the opportunity to help people learn to communicate in Spanish, a language that has always felt like a second home to me. I also write and read voraciously in whatever spare time I can find, and really enjoy helping students find their voice.
I started taking Spanish classes when I was 10. While I always loved the flavor of the language, the grammar did not come easily to me. I really had to work hard to find my comfort with the language, and well understand the struggles that students face. I have an MA in Spanish Linguistics from Middlebury College and am well qualified to teach students from elementary school up through early college courses.
Writing is a form of expression that has always been liberating for me. My capabilities were well-honed by excellent professors, both in high school and at Skidmore; I was lucky to receive that training. Writing is a muscle that I try to exercise frequently, and I enjoy helping students stretch that muscle as they work to find their own voice.
My capabilities in Adobe Illustrator are built around the usefulness of the program in creating patterns. Hello and thank you for visiting my page! My name is Chelsea, I graduated from Skidmore College in 2008 with a double major in English Literature and Studio Art. After
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
