I am a former educator with three years of experience teaching applied math and biological sciences to middle and high school students in the private sector. I have core content specialties in Algebra, Chemistry and Biology. My teaching knowledge further includes classical in-classroom instruction as well as 4MAT learning that focuses in on a pupil's innate learning abilities to drive comprehension and customize teaching for their learning style. I have experience in organizational and adolescent behavior with acumen in instructional guide. Since becoming a full-time tutor, I have been successful in bridging gaps with learning disabilities and positively influencing at-risk youth through academic coaching and counseling.

In addition, my tutoring knowledge spans formal testing (i.e. PSAT/SAT/ACT/GED/ASVAB/GRE and the Georgia Work Ready Assessment) as I have taken a battery of various exams over the years and know first-hand some of the challenges that students encounter. I provide my students with essential test taking techniques and knowledge to successfully score higher on these standard test, as I believe studying the material is 20% of what is needed and knowing "how" to take the test is 80% of what is expected. I am able to convey key concepts in a precise and transparent manner, while helping the student to become engaged.

As a working professional, I have utilized my knowledge to resolve issues and overcome daily operational challenges in my past positions. I have acquired professionalism and vital interpersonal skills to interact with people from all walks of life. I'm outgoing and manage time well and have been noted for my volunteer efforts. I consider myself a Christian and spend needed time mentoring youth. I like to stay active by playing basketball and engaging in outdoor sports. This diverse background enables me to have a unique perspective on learning and offer my expertise in various academic areas.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

As a former educator, I have professional experience teaching and facilitating the learning process as it relates to Algebra. As a tutor, I have integrated both my in-classroom experience and my test taking skill set to a one-on-one environment. This allows students to better comprehend information, as well as curtailing my teaching style to the students learning style and detailing assessment of their challenges. I have a proven track record of students increasing test scores and subject grades, but most importantly a better overall understanding of the subject area.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra II is an integrated math that I have helped students understand by covering foundational content areas such as linear equations, trigonometry, inequalities, and polynomials. Many of the challenges students encounter comes from the massive amount of information being bridged by this subject. I present this information strategically by ensuring general math is understood.
Biology,

Biology

As my primary major, I have explored the vast content area of the study of life (biology). I have taken a wide range of classes to help support my understanding as well as essential research to re-enforce major concepts. Teaching, tutoring and working in healthcare has allowed me to apply my understanding of life, physical, marine and health sciences as an adult and convey this understanding to students.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Spending countless hours in the laboratory and taking upper level chemistry classes such as: organic and inorganic chemistries and biochemistry has given me a strong foundation in chemistry with a rudimentary understanding. Teaching and tutoring in this subject area has sharpen my skills and enable me to communicate the language of chemistry to students.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have successfully fostered both improved grades and overall understanding with students in geometry. I use analytics and interpersonal skills to help pinpoint challenge areas and generate personal mastery by supporting previously missed concepts. I recognize that many students struggle in the areas of formula usage and algebraic concepts. I have taught and tutored geometric concepts for over 5 years and have a wealth of knowledge using it in applied mathematics and real-world application. I further have mastery of this area through other math related subjects and physical science integration.

He was very professional. I liked how he was encouraging with my son and patient. There were some problem solving techniques my son had not thought of and I this these lessons will help him alto on the Asvab. Jacoby even gave him homework which I love. I think this will be a sacrifice well worth it.

Excellent Tutor

Jacoby B did an awesome job helping my daughter close the gaps in skills she needed to prepare for her Math midterm. He was very patient, extremely knowledgeable, and very skilled at what he does. Being an educator myself, I was very pleased with his skill level and the way he provided instruction. In addition to helping my daughter with her Math skills, he also helped to boost her confidence. I am glad we choice to go this route. After the first lesson I was already asking him to please make room in his schedule to see her weekly. He is an AWESOME tutor.

Excellent tutor

Mr. B taught pre-calculus essentials such as trigonometry, the unit circle, graphing logarithms, polynomials, factoring, law of sines, law of cosines, and trig identities. His hours and schedule were very flexible. Call, text or leave a message and he will always get back to you.

Knowledeable & Patient Tutor/Coach

Jacoby is currently providing private basketball lessons to our 11 year old son, who was diagnosed to be on the Autism Spectrum. Some of the things he struggles with are socializing, concentration, and a severe fear of failing. My husband and I hired Jacoby to assist him with attaining the fundamental skills of basketball. Jacoby is very knowledgeable and patient, and is providing our son with the confidence and knowledge needed, so he can successfully integrate into a team with his peers. Our son likes learning from him and looks forward to his lesson each week.
