About Michael

I'm a local instructor at the college level and have been a high school teacher for the past five years. If you want a relaxed approach to writing better, reading complex texts or visualizing the content and courses of the humanities, I'm the tutor that you are looking for. I've taught various history courses as well as advanced sections of economics and government. My interest lie in helping students better understand the depths of complex topics and helping them curate the resources they need to succeed.

My specialties are history and economics but also excel at supporting students in their literature and other humanities courses as well as those struggling to create written responses to assignments. As an educator I am licensed at the secondary level in all social sciences. I believe most students possess the tools they need to be successful in their courses and what they are really seeking is a way to structure and capitalize on their personal strengths.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Political Science

I have taught high school government and citizenship as well as A.P. U.S. history and college U.S. history. The requirement for my teaching license included several college courses in political science. My license also accredits me to teach any social science, which includes political science.

Public Speaking

As a teacher for the past five years, public speaking is quality about which I am familiar. Not only do I engage in public speaking every time I step into the classroom but I was required to take classes in rhetoric to become a licensed teacher.

Social Studies

My license to be a secondary educator covers all social sciences for secondary education. To receive said license I took courses in psychology, anthropology, political science, sociology, economics and history. Our educational school also made courses like "methods for social studies" a requirement.
