Hello, my name is Anna. As a math teacher and tutor for more than 10 years, I have heard a lot of reasons why my students struggle in math . . . "I just can't do it!" "I'm no good in math." "I'll never use this stuff, ever!" "Why do I have to do this anyway?"
Well, I understand. In high school, math was just math. It was hard and kind of boring. Not until taking multiple high level math courses, earning a degree in civil engineering, and actually using math and mathematical applications on the job did the beauty of this field unfold to me. I strive to open this door of adventure and excitement to my students, both those I teach as well as those I tutor.
After working for about 10 years in civil and environmental engineering consulting, I switched careers and became a full-time mathematics instructor and tutor at private schools in Fulton and Cobb Counties. Currently, I tutor full-time, from elementary to high school mathematics courses. I have experience with a wide range of students of varying abilities and interests as well as levels of executive functioning and learning differences. My specialties are (high school and college) struggling beginners (on or below level) and high-level students who are struggling for various reasons. In general, my regular tutoring students increase their overall math grade by at least one letter grade.

Changing the way you think about and approach math can be the difference between better grades with more academic confidence or painfully enduring yet another math class. Because of the universal concepts of math, individualized instruction can provide a creative and different experience for frustrated students who have been exposed to a single method of mathematical instruction. In addition, my math tutoring includes organization, note-taking, and study skills to increase mathematical understanding and performance.
I love helping students reach those "aha" moments when th
