I do all I can to ensure my students develop a passion for learning and enjoy learning. i believe this can be accomplished by getting to know my students and determine their likes, dislikes, strengths, and challenges. Feedback from parents and/or guardians is also instrumental in learning more about the student. Knowing and empathizing with the student’s challenges, allows me to develop the right teaching approach to meet the needs of the student.

Although I have worked in various grade levels, the majority of my teaching experiences have been at the elementary school level, including special needs Pre-K. This has been over a 10+ year span as a teacher and teaching assistant. My graduate work, undergraduate work, and internships all contributed to my training.
Handwriting,

Handwriting

I have worked with students for 10+ years to learn or improve their handwriting, I have used a variety of techniques, such as tracing letters, forming letters using Play-Doh, or having the students make letters in sand with their fingers. My goal is to always to find a technique that accommodates the student's way of learning.
Phonics,

Phonics

As a teacher, we used phonics for our special needs pre-k students to help them connect letters with sounds.
Study Skills,

Study Skills

As a certified teacher, I have realized that the first step is to determine the area/s where the student is having challenges regarding their study habits. For example, is the student able to identify relevant details, and is the student staying focused? The next step is to resolve the problem areas, and develop skills that will motivate the student to study and enhance their learning.
