About Ben

I've worked as a tutor for over ten years, when I first began tutoring in an after-school program while I was still in High School. From there, I became a peer tutor during my undergraduate studies and have worked periodically as a freelance tutor ever since.

A life-long autodidact, I've undertaken formal studies in accounting and business, astronomy, philosophy biblical and theological studies, history and ancient languages with personal studies and interests in other languages (including German, Filipino, Russian and Italian), physics and advanced mathematics (including number and set theory, cardinality and selected topics in algebra and calculus), politics and government/civics.

In my tutoring, I strive to keep my students engaged and challenged by the material without overwhelming them. I believe students are at their best when genuinely interested in the material, and it's always my goal to help students understand why their work is important and useful, not only how to do it. I routinely design lesson plans and provide regular progress reports as I seek to personalize my approach for each student and discover how they best learn in order to reach their full potential.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping my students achieve success in their studies!

I've had an interest in astronomy for as long as I can remember, even before I begged for a backyard telescope! I studied astronomy as a dual enrollment student at Eastern Kentucky University, and it has been perhaps my most avid autodidactic endeavor for over 20 years.

I minored in philosophy during my studies at Asbury University, with a particular interest in modern epistemology, logic and philosophy of religion. I'm especially fond of Hume, Berkeley and Pascal as modern philosophers and thoroughly appreciate Aristotelian ethics and the concept of imminent forms.

I majored in Biblical and Theological Studies at Asbury University, where I undertook advanced courses in both Old and New Testaments as well as in Theology. In addition to these, I also studied two years of Biblical Greek and one year of Biblical Hebrew.

I have worked as an office manager and tax accountant for three years, and have nearly completed my associate's degree in accounting at Georgia Northwestern Technical College. I have already received acceptance from Colorado State University, where I will shortly begin to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping my students achieve success in their studies!
