I have 20+ years in the publishing industry as a copy writer, copy editor and proofreader. I have experience with creating and polishing copy for a variety of products: including but not limited to brochures, papers, studies, novels, pamphlets, magazine articles, film scripts, and short stories. I have worked with Thomas Nelson (now Harper Collins Christian Publishing), Fox Faith, FamilyLife Today (a division of Cru ministries), and a number of other individuals in freelance editing and proofreading projects.
My strengths lie in proofreading and catching the mistakes often overlooked or missed by others. If you need someone to make sure your publication is error-free and ready to be seen by the harshest of critics, I have the eyes and attention to detail you will want to give your project before delivery to its final destination. I can assure you a quick turnaround and a product ready for excellence. I can also assist in helping students navigate proofreading marks and ascribing to MLA, APA, and Chicago or AP style as is applicable for their respective assignments. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a journalism degree and have spent more than 20 years freelancing in the area of proofreading and copyediting. I also have homeschooled my own children and have experience teaching grammar from elementary through high school level.
My concentration while at University was in Literature. While my favorite is children's literature, I am also proficient in American Literature and British Literature. My teenage children are currently in high school and middle school respectively, and they are homeschooling. This keeps my skills and familiarity with various forms of literature fresh and on point.
I have a degree in Journalism and have been writing, both in the freelance arena, as well as on my own blog. I have written everything from magazine articles, brochures, technical manuals, Bible studies, and short poems. I have also helped create curriculum and worked on dialogue for short skits.
