Every moment issues a new learning experience; therefore, my dedication to learning is an ongoing endeavor and I enjoy sharing knowledge with others; however, my years of active participation does not come from an organized classroom profession or career. My classroom settings have been: 1) in our home, as a mom to three sons-all HS graduates-with our youngest graduating valedictorian of his class and becoming a Foreign Language (French & Japanese) teacher, and 2) in our church, as a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years and for many different age groups. I am a, 1984, graduate of Liberty University Home Bible Institute, via correspondence, in Biblical Studies and a, 2010, graduate of Light University in Christian Counseling. I, also, have three years, under my belt, in Business Management from Coosa Valley Technical College-now, Georgia North Western Technical College.
In today's society, our school systems are so fast paced that each student cannot and does not get the much needed attention, in the classroom setting, that can and will help him/her achieve their academic potential. Students become overwhelmed and frustrated because there are some areas of study that require a more in-depth or individualized method to help students grasp their concepts. While working one on one, my desire is for the student to realize his/her own potential and dedicate themselves to reaching their goal to see improvement in his/her grades, and test scores.
My specialties are in English/Language Arts, literature, reading, composition and Bible/Biblical Studies; however, my personal limitation or preference would be projected toward elementary and middle school: however, I am willing to work into high school level. My goal is to challenge each student with assignments, encourage them to always complete the task to the best of his/her ability, to commend them as they progress, and reward them for their accomplishments.
Feedback, from student and parents, is necessary and expected because your satisfaction with my tutoring is very important to me. We can, all, work together to help your child reach academic excellence. My time is flexible; however, if there is a need for cancellation, I would appreciate being notified-as soon as possible-and a make-up class can be scheduled. It is my policy to work with the parents to establish a quiet, comfortable, and safe place to study and one of convenience to all.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your student achieve success in their academic studies! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
