Hello Prospective Students and Parents!
Let me begin by acknowledging the fact that smart students have tutors!!! I've been in the tutoring profession for over 20 years with a specialization in reaching each student where they are academically. While the rudimentary goal is to strategically progress students towards State Standards, I believe in nurturing advanced subject matter. My experiences have led me to work with students from kindergarten through college. My previous work also includes a comprehensive study on the graduate school level in Education Administration and Supervision. I'm currently a Doctoral Candidate at Tennessee State University with major research on high school level coursework that promotes timely college graduation.
Math is the one subject that consistently and aggressively builds upon previous knowledge. There are many students that simply didn't get it in the past and that directly correlates with their current situation. I act as an investigator to uncover those missteps to correct and bring them up to the required standards and beyond. The understanding of concepts has to be taught towards the learning style of each student. I focus on understanding the student to form a positive growth towards understanding.
Common Core standards are needed by education professionals to evaluate the progress of students. As required by law, these professionals use standardized test as a measure to how well they are doing. My approach settles on progression to a true understanding that solidifies a foundation in overall concepts. This is imperative as most coursework is a continuation through graduate school. While Common Core has changed its focus over the past few years, the overall concept of conceptual knowledge is still prevalent.
I have time slots available for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot wait to take your educational experience to another level. Let's begin a collaboration towards success that is sure to be a foundation to your future accomplishments! Hello Prospective Students and Parents!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
