I am an educator with ten years of elementary education experience. I specialize in teaching students to read and write confidently. I have taught prekindergarten through fifth grade and specialized in literacy instruction as both a literacy coach and reading intervention teacher. I utilize various assessments to determine student strengths and weaknesses and use resources aligned to student need to provide individualized instruction.
My goal is for every child I work with to make extensive progress. I believe every child learns in a unique way and determining their learning style is a priority. As a tutor, I take a great responsibility in student learning and enjoy watching students grow as readers and writers.
I have studied reading instruction both in the graduate level as well as through national education conferences. I worked as a literacy coach where I trained other teachers how to successfully implement reading and writing instruction and I also worked as a reading intervention teacher where I gained extensive experience working with students who struggle in reading.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
