I have fourteen years' experience as a public school teacher. Ten of those years were spent as an Early Intervention Program teacher. I prepared lessons designed for students who were performing below grade level. I used interventions such as a READING MASTERY curriculum to introduce phonics and high frequency words to help students become proficient in reading.
I also offered remediation in mathematics for students kindergarten through third grade. As a second grade teacher, I implemented Common Core. The students participated in Writer's Workshop. We studied JUNIE B. JONES and other supplementary texts. In Literature Circle, the students assumed the roles of presenter, word finder, illustrator, and summarizer to address grade level text. In Social Studies, students wrote reports based on geographical regions in Georgia. They also constructed magazines related to areas in Georgia. Students studied SIGN OF THE BEAVER and were able to design replicas of the cabin built by Matt and his father.
As a teacher in a Needs Improvement school, I also provided tutoring under programs such as Mentor Plus and Twenty-First Century Afterschool Program. I also served as a Club Z tutor. I sincerely hope that my years of experience will enhance your student's learning. I look forward to working with your student. I have fourteen years' experience as a public school teacher. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I implemented Common Core curriculum as a second grade teacher, as well as a fourth grade teacher. I taught Language Arts in fourth grade and used supplementary texts. In second grade, students were placed in small groups to study the geography of Georgia. They wrote reports from information provided.
