About Elizabeth

Tutoring and teaching are something I'm very passionate about. The reward is not in the payment, but rather in the student: in the way the student's fave lights up when he or she "gets" the material. When grades increase. When confidence increases. Those are worth more than money.

I have worked not only as a teen leader at summer camps and VBS, but also in the classroom. I have been taught about ethics and confidentiality with students. While I'm the classroom, I worked with small groups, the class as a whole, and one on one instruction. I have worked in an eighth grade English class, fourth grade co-lab, and volunteered in kindergarten classes.

The first story I remember writing as a child was a tale of three pony friends escaping from a barn fire. Although the story sounds rather corny now, writing helped me learn to communicate as a shy child. Through literature and writing, I became confident.

Throughout high school, I was enrolled in Advanced Placement and advanced literate classes. I have interned with an eighth grade English class, fourth grade class, and assisted with reading skills in a kindergarten classroom. Now in college, I write for our school's newspaper and for the media platform The Odyssey.

I strive to engage students with reading and writing, both of which are vital communication skills. Feel free to contact me. Writing is a passion of mine that I hope to instill in others!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Writing

I currently write for Kennesaw State's newspaper, The Sentinel and for the Odyssey Online, a forum similar to Buzzfeed. Not only have I had articles go viral, but I have also received attention from CNN and the AJC.
